Problems with Sta Rite 3 Filter

Just a quick follow-up: do I need to actually remove the filters in this scenario if my waste outlet is on a diverter valve and is located between my pump and filter? Seems to me like I could simply close the flow to the filter and have it pump directly out the waste outlet. Thanks! - - -...

Problems with Sta Rite 3 Filter

Good idea, I may try this - thanks! At least with a sand filter though I can backwash in a few minutes and get back to decent circulation. My circulation is consistently poor throughout the day while I am at work because the PSI gets too high too fast.

Problems with Sta Rite 3 Filter

Oh agreed 100% - with my old house I did well keeping up with water balance. Bought this house in the winter.. uncovered the pool and discovered the brown swamp! And you are correct, simply unscrewing the filter is a hassle in itself!

Problems with Sta Rite 3 Filter

Hi all - Just moved and inherited a new in-ground pool with a setup that I am not familiar with. Previous owners left the pool a mess, did not maintain last year and must have simply closed the pool without managing it. The filter system is a Sta Rite 3 cartridge - and I can tell by taking...

    Staining w/ conflicting PH readings

Thanks for the quick reply - that is kind of what I expected. Any thoughts on what my staining could be? I should mention that I've tried vitamin c tablets and they really don't do anything. They would diminish both iron and rust , correct? My only other thoughts are: - organic from large...

    Pressure / Suction Loss Troubleshooting

Whoops - I missed your other question. No, the suction hose does not have a leaf strainer.

    Pressure / Suction Loss Troubleshooting

Done (Rochester, NY). I hook up the vacuum robot via hose directly into the skimmer basket suction line and vacuum while the pool is on filter. Maybe I am doing this wrong and should be vacuuming to waste? Anyway, I haven't had this issue before (maybe I got lucky :) ). There was a decent...

    Slightly cloudy water

Tested the water tonight after sundown and the FC level had dropped to 0.8 from 4.2. Water is still cloudy / hazy. I used the pool math calculator to determine how much 8.25% chlorox to add - and ended up adding 6.5 of the 121oz jugs. I guess this was too much because it raised by FC level to...

    Slightly cloudy water

First of all, I would like to thank of you who gave me guidance and direction last year when I bought a new house with a pool (and had no idea what I was doing). Since then, I've enjoyed crystal clear water and limited issues thanks to a solid testing kit, liquid bleach, and the SLAM method...

Re: Just bought a house and inherited a pool - need some hel Thanks for all of the input and suggestions guys. My kit is on order. Friday night I hit it hard with 8.25% bleach after sundown and then periodically before I went to sleep late. It held at over 10ppm all though Friday night and...

Just bought a house and inherited a pool - need some help!

Re: Just bought a house and inherited a pool - need some hel Thanks for the quick reply, both of you. I guess its bad, but I don't know for certain if it is SWG or in-line. I did not think it was either as the only chlorine the previous owner had was granular chloro brite and 3" tabs. Is...
