Installing Aquador. Worried about liner shift.

Ahh, brilliant idea, pwrstrk. Thanks. I should've thought of that. I get all "deer in headlights" around this pool. Thanks again.

Installing Aquador. Worried about liner shift.

Well I said screw it and just gave it a shot. Piece of cake. Liner didn't move one bit. Went to finally install the return plug (ya, in Feb!) and realized I got the wrong size. I have a #9 but needed something smaller. I guess my next rookie question is am I using the correct plugging...

Installing Aquador. Worried about liner shift.

Thanks guys, I was thinking the same thing. But I was also thinking with the liner being so cold at the moment, perhaps it would be slow to react to any loss of tension when removing the stock one...if I'm explaining myself correctly.

Installing Aquador. Worried about liner shift.

Like the title says... I'm concerned with the liner shifting when removing the stock flange and installing the Aquador flange. Is this a possibility, or am I worrying about nothing? Anything else I should be concerned with?

NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good idea?

Re: NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good i Casey, that's my dilemma...no cover. At least the cover, assuming it stays leak free, will keep additional precipitation on TOP of it. Without a cover, like in my situation, and without having chopped through the ice and siphoned...

NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good idea?

Re: NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good i Thanks a bunch for taking those pix. Obviously these things can take a beating. I'll check out the Aquadoor. Thanks again.

NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good idea?

Re: NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good i Thanks for the pic and info, danpik. I assume the water level under your cover is below your return? To all....Without having a cover AND gaining additional water from precip, my concern is having the ice freeze solid around the...

NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good idea?

Re: NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good i You guys will probably say I'm worrying about nothing still, but I gotta ask.. My concerns with keeping water away from the return and skimmer are based off the fact water expands/moves when it freezes. Even if I had plugged both...

Re: NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good i Is there a particular brand of skimmer plug you guys would recommend?

NH winter, pool cover and ice. Pool cover = Not a good idea?

At closing time, I drained the pool to the recommended 6" below the return, but never covered the pool. Since the closing, I've had to chop through 1'+ of ice 3 times and siphon off 6" of water as additional precip has brought the level up to the return. My guess is I'll have to do it at least 2...

Best, most cost effective floating cover support?

Thanks for the replies, guys. There aren't any tractor service places locally to find used ones but there's a TSC in the next town over.

Best, most cost effective floating cover support?

Any idea how much they go for? I'm thinking about tying 2 together but stacked on top of each other, then tied off to the pool rails.

Best, most cost effective floating cover support?

Expecting water to freeze solid in NH. I'm thinking farm tractor tire inner tubes but haven't checked the price. What say you folks?

    Agp in Miami

I'd just call the appropriate agency in Miami. Better safe than sorry. What's up the the computer generated quote name in the above post!? Did it auto correct itself into that!? Pwrstrk ain't gonna be happy.

So, i added some DE to my sand filter. Ugh!

Well here's my update. All of the small deposits of DE are gone. When I run the broom across the pool floor, whether in daylight or at night under the scrutiny of the light, I see ZERO debris getting kicked up! I can say, with absolute certainty, 99.9999% of the DE is out of my pool. I'm sure...

will these steps work with my ag pool

Good thinking, Dave. Inexpensive hole saw sets can usually be found at Wally World, Lowes, HD, etc, for under $15. The end result will be the same, but not quite as clean.

will these steps work with my ag pool

Here's one that won't break the bank. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000FZ2UO ... X110_SY165 I suppose you could use a 1" spade bit, but if it binds up yer gonna have a less than pretty hole, or worse if the plastic has become brittle. The problem with using a "regular" 1" bit is you're not...

will these steps work with my ag pool

And if yer gonna take woodyp's suggestion, a "step" bit, no pun intended  is what I'd recommend you use for the holes. If you don't know what a step bit is, just ask the folks at your local hardware store. Irwin brand calls them Uni-bits. They, unfortunately, are VERY expensive(for a drill...

So, i added some DE to my sand filter. Ugh!

Not sure how similar an IG skimmer basket is to an AG, but it might be worth taking another shot at the socks. Maybe doubling them up would help. You just gotta keep sweeping those piles into the water column. As you can see, adding a bit of cellulose to the sock was fairly effective in my case...

So, i added some DE to my sand filter. Ugh!

Here's a pic of just the sock (no cellulose added) after 12 hrs. The main reason I'm posting these photos is to show the effectiveness of a skimmer sock in general, not necessarily at removing DE. I couldn't find many pix using google, so hopefully this is helpful for non-forum members too.

So, i added some DE to my sand filter. Ugh!

Here is a pic after running my pump overnight. I sprinkled about a tablespoon of cellulose into the skimmer WITH the sock in place, to improve its effectiveness. The cellulose is pure white. As you can see, the slight clumpiness is the cellulose. The overall cream color is the DE it trapped...

So, i added some DE to my sand filter. Ugh!

Alright, a few posts back I said sand would be the only filter media I'll use from here on in. I lied. I'm still struggling with getting this remaining DE out of the water. It's nice and clear until I sweep the bottom. Constant filtering is only doing so much. The skimmer sock DEFINITELY...

    Holes......again!

I don't know much about pool building but have you thought about pouring a concrete slab under your liner? A pain, for sure, and not cheap, but likely permanently effective. Not sure if you could just keep it the diameter of the pool, though. You may have to disassemble it and pour the slab a...

So, i added some DE to my sand filter. Ugh!

Toofast, out of curiosity, have you tried cellulose as an additive to your sand bed? Despite going through this small nightmare with DE, I'm tempted to try it. Maybe it would adhere itself more effectively to the sand. Hey!...I sense you pool gurus rolling your eyes! ;) I'd imagine it would be...

So, i added some DE to my sand filter. Ugh!

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004LTA5O ... X110_SY165 Don't expect miracles as far as if your intentions are removing DE. After 24 hrs there is some in the sock, but without constant water agitation, it's only going to be so effective. I chose to use them primarily to remove the typical pool...

So, i added some DE to my sand filter. Ugh!

Thanks, Toofast. Ya, I'm also still at a loss for an explanation as to why even some of the pool grade stuff got through. Barring an actual filter issue, which I still don't think I have (but without checking is entirely possible), it only leaves a few logical explanations I can think of. Pool...

Upright rubbing finish of pool wall

Greg, hopefully your issue will be solved soon. Am I the only one seeing the optical delusion in some of those pix? Look at the radius at the bottom of the photos as defined by the decking. Now look at the top rail radius. Spooky! Do do do do Do do do do.....

So, i added some DE to my sand filter. Ugh!

Thanks, Patrick. Good one, Jeetyet. I'll pass on the DE consumption. My sand filter from here on in will ONLY contain SAND as a media. Lesson learned. For me, it definitely wasn't worth the hassle and the 10 degree drop in pool temp running the filter for 5 days straight w/o the solar cover...
