Aquarite - power but no led?

I have an strange issue with my aquarite generator. When I cycle power to the control panel, the lcd display comes on and shows salt level but none of the led lights come on. Sometimes, the no flow led comes on for a second, and then goes off. None of the other leds are on, even the power led...

Fighting cloudy pool for 3 weeks

Just an update: I let the "repaired" filter run overnight. The next evening I floc'd the pool and let it sit last all night. Tuesday morning, I vacuumed the bottom to waste. For the last week, I have been running the filter and the water has cleared up significantly. It is still far from crystal...

Fighting cloudy pool for 3 weeks

I took the multiport valve with me into pool store. They said several of the gaskets were pretty bad - and the main wagon wheel gasket was so flat it probably wasnt sealing very well. They replaced several parts including the key seal. Charged me $50 bucks in parts and when I got home the...

Fighting cloudy pool for 3 weeks

Yes, I agree. There are two separate issues - the filter being the most critical. The multiport valve does feel a little sloppy. I guess I can go replace the multiport top and see if that helps. I know they arent cheap but Im getting desparate and the kids are getting antsy about swimming.

Fighting cloudy pool for 3 weeks

I replaced the filter sand in mid 2008 due to cracked lateral. Here are some shots:

Fighting cloudy pool for 3 weeks

I put a sock over the outlet jet and in just a few minutes collected a noticable amount of large particles (including a 1cm worm)... I inspected the filter yesterday and didnt see anything. Im wondering if maybe some amount inlet side water is bypassing the filter.

Fighting cloudy pool for 3 weeks

Why would skimmer socks filter particle that the sand filter isnt?? Isnt that the point of the filter? Is there possibly something wrong with my filter and a test I can perform to make sure its filtering properly?

Fighting cloudy pool for 3 weeks

Pool is still very cloudy, ill try a little less DE and try to keep pressure rise to 1-2 psi. Im also concerned about the amount of air comming out of the deep end jets. I also found clumps of leaves in my SWG cell today trying to get it going. Im not sure how that could happen, but still makes...

Fighting cloudy pool for 3 weeks

Tested water this morning at 5am FC 21 CC .5 Seems like I held my chlorine pretty well. Ill retest CYA when there is a little more light to make sure I didnt have a bad reading. This is pointing me to think I have some kind of filter problem. I checked and pressure had climbed to 27. That made...

Fighting cloudy pool for 3 weeks

I've been fighting my pool for 3 weeks trying to clear it up. Last year used BBB and was able to get it clear in about 1 week - and I think I started with alot more leaves and dirt in the pool then. This year I unfortunately have been out of reagents so Ive been winging it with test strips. Now...

New To Pools / Start Up Questions

I am having a similiar foaming issue. Never used any algacide (at least in the last few years). Last year my pool did the exact same thing. (See Post rough-start-to-the-season-t11629.html") This occured when I was shocking the pool after having it uncovered all winter with significant organic...

    Adding DE to sand filter

I woke this AM and walked out to the pool. WOW. The DE had really helped. Water was glass all the way to the bottom. However, i realized that the jets were just bubbling a tiny bit and little water was coming out. I went out to the pump and pressure was up near 28psi, condensation in the...

    Adding DE to sand filter

I decided to try adding some DE to my sand filter to try and improve my clarity a bit more. I should have added it more gradually but I eyeballed it. After a few minutes I checked filter pressure and it was up just a bit more than 1psi (19psi->20.5) so I thought I was golden. I just checked 3...

    Rough start to the season

I thought I would post a little follow up. After a thorough shocking, lots of vacuuming, brushing, and running the robot, the pool is now open and looking pretty good so far. Thank you to all for the help.

    T/A is way too high

I have been running tests on tap water to see how much consitency I get. I was reading 130/140, but when I wiped the tip i go 90. After reading some more, I think I have not been testing properly. I was not holding the droppers completely vertical.

    T/A is way too high

I have been reading high TA (180-200)as well - and had even noticed that the drops on the R009 reagent seemed smalled than drops from the other bottles. I did not know if this is supposed to be like that or not. Is there a way to measure/weigh some number of drops to see if the reagent bottle...

Powdered shock raises CYA how much?

I have read through pools school a few times. That was the reason for my question. I wasnt sure if there was a way to calculate how much calcium/CYA would be in the shock and increase my levels. My calcium is a bit low (even though not really a concern for the vinyl) so I think I will be ok to...

Powdered shock raises CYA how much?

How much increase in CYA will a 1lb bag of powered shock raise per 10,000 gallons? Bag says: 45.6% calcium hypochlorite 52.4% other

    Rough start to the season

Thanks. The water seems to be clearing up SLOWLY. Tonight I could start to make out the liner pattern in the deep end. I just added some more bleach and will run a chlorine test in a little while to compare against in the morning. I will try some DE as soon as I have a completely dirt free pool...

    Rough start to the season

The foam cleared up after about 2 days. I have been trying to keep FC>20ppm and the water has cleared up a bit, still a bit cloudy with a tinge of green. (I can finally make out the bottom drain in the deep end). I vacuumed, brushed, and backwashed today.

    Rough start to the season

Every time I added bleach over past 2 weeks the foam starts to forms. Last weekend it had completely cleared as I was not adding bleach because I was waiting for the test kit to figure out what direction to go. It seems like the foam clears as the chlorine levels go down. The previous owners...

    Rough start to the season

I believe the previous owners may have used algicide but we pretty much drained the pool at the beginning of last season and never saw any foam. I did not put algicide in this season or last (although the same pool company recommended i do so now). I only hired them to help out on the manual...
