EasyTouch controlled incandescent light - inconsistent operation. Help!

Thank you both! Yeah, the light above the Aux is on. (On both the remote, and inside the main control.) I've only ever dealt with the remote, and never really cracked open the panel covering the relays. Could either of you point me to resources for monkeying around with relays inside there?

EasyTouch controlled incandescent light - inconsistent operation. Help!

Hello all, I'm having some issues with my pool light, and was hoping someone here might have seen something like this and could suggest a fix. I may have to call someone to come out, but... thought I'd try here first. I control my pool with an EasyTouch remote. I'm not really sure what version...

Any recommendations for Color Changing LED bulb replacement?

Hello everyone! My 120v 300w incandescent flood bulb has burned out in my pool. (At least... I hope it's just burned out, and not something worse.) I was interested in replacing it with something of an equivalent brightness that could change colors. However there seems to be a ton of options...

Cartridge Filter Replacement Brand Suggestions for Sta-Rite S7M120

Hello! I'm thinking it's time to replace the cartridge filters in my Sta-Rite S7M120 filter. They're only... uh... 14 years old. (Oops) (I've been washing them out 2 or 3 times a season, and they always seemed fine. But now some of that fabric appears to be tearing and falling out.) At any...

Interesting. So the opposite approach. May I ask why?

Valve between skimmer and pump found halfway closed. Why?

Hello everyone! It's that time of year. Just opened the pool, and I've already got questions! I don't open the pool myself. My mom has it done by a professional who opens and closes it for us, and then I maintain it during the summer. He's an odd guy, and not particularly talkative. Doesn't...

Large drops in FC with a CC of zero. Is this possible?

Hey all. I've been a bit perplexed by my pool this season. Since opening, I've been having to add double the Chlorine daily that I've had to in previous years. I try to keep an FC of 5. In previous years I'd see an average of 4 most mornings. This season I keep waking up to 2s. I can't figure...

TF-100 Test Kit Instructions - CH Test - Possible Missprint?

Happy summer everyone! My apologies if this has been covered before, but when i searched i couldn't find anything related. Bought a new TF-100 for this summer to teach my mom how to care for her own pool. She was getting wildly different results from her CH test than from mine and I finally...

    Pool Math........The App

Didn't like the app at first, but i am a fan of this site so i stuck with it. Then paid for a year which opened the app up, and suddenly it made more sense, and it's been growing on me. Haven't hand-written anything in my pool notebook this season, and i see no reason to. The log is handy… are...

General strategy for maintaining FC level (Daily routine?)

Ok, interesting… i got confused i guess. I thought my range was 3–7. The (OTO) daily tester only indicates up to 5. Does that mean you're using the FAS/DPD test every day?

General strategy for maintaining FC level (Daily routine?)

Hey everybody, just a simple generalized question about the way you approach FC levels on a daily basis. With my CYA level at 40, pool math recommends FC range between 3 and 7. So i try to keep it at 5. I test my water every morning before the sun hits the pool. Get up, go out and test, and...

How often do most of you add Muriatic Acid?

Ok. But the numbers are still the same. My CSI is 0.3 I do realize the goals are ranges, but have no idea whether i should go higher or lower within that range, or why. So i just aim for the middle, or like i said previously, the default numbers pool math puts in. I guess i'm not understanding...

How often do most of you add Muriatic Acid?

I don't need the pH to be 7.5, it's just the goal pool calculator defaults to, so i assumed 7.5 was the best. And… CH 250 is low? I usually keep it around 260 for the same reason as above. Should i be keeping my CH higher? Frankly, all my levels are based on the default goals in pool...

How often do most of you add Muriatic Acid?

Hey everyone! I use that mini test kit (Taylor K-1000) to test my water daily, and I'm always annoyed to find the pH hovering in the high 7.8 range. Pool Calculator says to use 11oz Muriatic acid to get pH down to 7.5 — so i tend to add 16oz because that's easier for me to measure. Typically...

Draining a closed pool later in winter after heavy rains... Yes? No? How?

Hey guys, i've got a question in preparation for this coming winter. My pool has been drained to just below the returns, the lines have been blown out, and anti-freeze added. (At least, it should have been, we paid for it) The cover is on. i can certainly see that! Last winter, after the...

Can CYA ever drop on its own? Or is my new CYA reagent different somehow?

Ok cool. i will assume it actually is at 40 then. You guys keep mentioning backwashing. I think with my setup i can't do that. The pump only flows one way. What i do is drain the filter tank, open it up, pull out the cartridges, and hose 'em off. Does that change your answers?

Can CYA ever drop on its own? Or is my new CYA reagent different somehow?

Hey everyone! Still humming along in my first year using the TroubleFree method. Thanks to you all. i have a question about my CYA level dropping 10 points. i had to drain the pool several times at the beginning of the season to get my CYA down to 50. (from 100!) Then, satisfied with 50, i've...

Advice for going on vacation - Floater vs Skimmer - and how many pucks?

Follow up - what i ended up doing - and my results Just to follow up for anyone who might be interested... Before i left on Wednesday the 6th, i bumped my FC up to shock level. Ok. Pucks in skimmer = no bueno. Got it. Thanks for all the help! i'm gonna try tim5055's advice and just raise it to shock level before i leave, and see what happens. i like this approach because it means i don't have to buy any new equipment that i won't know how to use, and i won't be...

Opening for the summer - first test - Already off to a bad start

    Very high CYA level questions

I'm new to the forum, and new to test kits. I've been using trichlor tablets because... well that's what the store was selling me, and they seemed to fit nicely in my chlorinator. Learning to use the chlorinator

RobbieH - No, i'm afraid i don't know what my CYA is. i had assumed 3ppm was good simply because the test strip bottle told me 3ppm is "ok". Isaac-1 - I think a better analogy would be that i'm reluctant to spend money on good glasses because i don't know how to wear them.

    Learning to use the chlorinator

Hello all, I'm new to the forum (and to pools), and am eager to learn. I've been having trouble keeping my chlorine level consistent. Sometimes i'll get lucky and have it right at 3ppm or so for a while, but then it seems to catch me off guard by dropping to 0ppm. So i'll freak out and add...
