    AQR-15 Install for AGP

Just purchased an AQR-15 system for my 18000 gallon above ground pool. I am still a bit nervous about the salt water and my steel walled pool, but decided to go for the SWG anyway. I will be doing the install myself, so any tips or advice for the install that may not be obvious?? Sent from my...

    AGP and Salt Water Concerns

Hey all! I am curious about the actual concerns of running a salt water system with an above ground pool that is not designed for use with salt water. I am very well aware of the risks of increased corrosion and all, but what is the real world risk? My pool is 4 years old, and looks to be...

Need an Azimuth Check; CYA/Chlorine vs PoolMath

Hey All, No real problems to report, but I do have a question on a disparity between the CYA/Chlorine Chart and PoolMath's TFP Recommendations: For my CYA of 50, the CYA/Chlorine chart lists the upper limit of my range for chlorine at 6PPM, with a low of 4, but PoolMath with the TFP...

    Run-in with an Ionizer

Hey all, thought I would share my experience and concerns with a neibghor who uses a copper ionizer: Neibghor mentioned that his new pool was having a slimy feel on the bottom, so I figured it was a perfect time to bring over the ol' TF-100 and give him a quick rundown on pool chemistry...

So I have a phosphate problem.

Went to Leslie's to pick up some hose sections for my kreepy krawly knockoff and figured I'd bring a sample for testing. Verdict was around 2500ppb phosphate level....... .......and I don't care! Also suggested I add calcium for my vinyl liner pool. Nothing more to add. Sent from my...

    CYA Question

Over the course of the season, with rain and backwashes(and a time or two of letting the hose run too long when topping off), my cya level has drifted down to 35. The pool is in direct sunlight and with the hot Georgia weather, I am currently loosing 3-4 ppm CL a day. Should I raise my cya? I...

    Pump Issues Revisited

About a year ago, I was having some strange issues with my pump: When turned on, it would make a noise similar to bad bearings, then trip the breaker. It would only do this under conditions where there was little return pressure (Backwash, Rinse). My solution was to constrict the backwash...

Shoulda looked closer before I bought the bleach.

I took advantage of Fred's recent sale on bleach, 1.99/gal for 8.25%. Well, added bleach, tested later and it only went up 2ppm (should've gone 4ppm). Took a closer look at the bottles....saw what I think is a date stamp of 13 312. ****... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New Chlorine Source?

Came across this product on my local janitorial supplier's site. Here is the MSDS: http://www.spartanchemical.com/spartan/msds/USA/English/7004.pdf Looks like standard bleach to me, but what gets me is the strength. 10-15% is a big stretch. Also, it is selling for almost 60 dollars/5 gallon...

    Ammonia and high chlorine demand.

Well, seems that I am dealing with one of those instances where my CYA was converted into ammonia. I am helping my folks open their pool in south jersey, and got a reading of 0 cya with my tf-100. Strange because they used nothing but tablets last year. Sooo, after 16 gallons of 10%, and 4 lbs...

    So I got lazy...

Between being out of bleach, laziness, busy schedules, and cooler weather, I neglected to add bleach like I should have. Honestly, I think I went about 4-5 days without adding any. Before that, I kept my FC levels between 5-9, with a CYA of 65-70. Every morining I expected my pool to be...

I Blame TFP and the BBB Method...

...on being the cause of a boring, easy to maintain swimming pool! After ordering my TF-100 and switching to the BBB method, I was ready to track my daily chemical consumption and test results along with bather load, weather, daily sun exposure. I logged all that for a few days but stopped...

    30' AG Pool/Deck Build (w/ Pics!)

Hey all, I figured it was time for me to share my pool/deck build. We started December 2012, and are still not quite done (I don't think we ever will be 100% done!) Enjoy! Breaking Ground! We had about 3-3.5 feet of grade to level out: Walls are up: More to follow! --Thomas

Taking the BBB method too far!

Last night as my head hit the pillow (and after some NyQuil so I could sleep through this bug I caught) I said to my wife: "Goodnight, Chlorine". That led to an interesting conversation this morning. Oh well, time to check my FC level! --Thomas

    First test results are in...

TF-100 just arrived in the mail today. It was like Christmas! I was so tired of chasing this pool and trying to keep it nice without spending a fortune. Here are my first results: FC-33 Very high, have been SLAMing the past couple of days and went overboard on the bleach CC-0 I think I did...

Pump trips CB when on backwash

Like the title says, my pump trips when the filter is on backwash or rinse. Runs fine when on filter. I am guessing that the increased backpressure on the pump when the filter is set to filter is causing whatever is wrong with the pump to fix itself. Any ideas?
