Thanks for the information. We were thinking our filter was small & planned to upgrade when it dies. Same for the pump. Our plumbing is 1 1/2 in, so 1 1/2hp would be the largest pump we could use, right? I am clueless about variable speed motors. We will have to do some research. :?

I want to get the ladder out because it has rusted areas, at & below the water line, & I have a new ladder to replace it with. We still have had no luck getting it out. I have a pool guy coming out first of the week to do it for us. Thanks so much for the responses.

1 hour after adding 2nd cup, psi increased by1

I added 1 cup of cellulose ,no change in filter psi after one hour. I added another cup & no change after an additional 30 min. I think I will check it again in 30 min and leave it for tonight. Or, should I backwash it out before I go to bed? :sleep:

I hate that I didn't take pics before I started. I will try to get some tomorrow. I swear, the cellulose has already made a difference in just a little over 3 hours( 3 backwashings, too!) I'm hoping it will be clear by tomorrow night !! :-D
