Well thanks for all your help. I pulled, inspected & cleaned the thermistor and still had not resolved the issue. Because of the loud rumble of exhaust & the smell I had a hunch it may be the air/gas mix do I opened the control valve & made a slight adjustment.. It worked !! Sound & smell...- Jaistauffer

Sta-rite NG IG Pool Heater fires but won't stay lit
Sta-rite NG IG Pool Heater fires but won't stay lit. Fires (abnormal deep sounding exhaust smells of NG), runs less than 4 minutes & heater shuts off. Blower continues to run. The cycle will continue this way until I power it down. No error code. Previous to this, pool water not balanced so...- Jaistauffer
