Pentair Whisperflo single speed pump died. Looking for a replacement (dual or VS)

Pentair Whisperflo pump appears dead. It was over 10yrs old. Got pretty noisy last summer so not unexpected, but when I turned it on today it just hums. Tried manually turning the shaft....grinds a little but not seized. But the pump doesn't even try to turn. Looking for a dual speed or variable...

DE coming out of drains when pump shuts off.

When my pump shuts off, it seems like water is backflowing from the filter. I see the filter basket water gets cloudy/white and see a ring of DE appear around the pool drain. Is there supposed to be a check valve somewhere that failed, or is there maybe an air leak somewhere allowing the water...

    All that rain!

It had to go somewhere. Unfortunately a lot of it ended up in my pool. My yard basically flooded when the drains clogged from mulch and dirt runoff. The 5" of rain basically filled my pool to the coping....and then the flooded deck overflowed into the pool. And then the pool overflowed out the...

Went away...liquidator line kinked... now I have stubborn algae. UGH.

I've had algae blooms before when I went away for a week and we got hammered with high 90's weather and my chlorine burned up more quickly than usual. But in those cases it was a few surfaces and I could slam it and be good in under 48hrs. This time is much tougher. I had it at 2 days at 15-17...

Electric Co rebate on Variable speed pumps.....worth pursuing?

I have a 3/4hp Pentair Whisperflo (single speed) pump currently. It is 10 years old and can be a little noisy. My utility company is offering a $200 rebate on a Variable Speed Pump and I am wondering A) if it is worth replacing, and B) which pump is recommended? Seems like they are all $600-1000...

Help me identify this type of rope float anchor point. Please.

I never paid much attention to the anchor points since there was no rope float when we bought our house 5 yrs ago. I'm looking to put a rope float up just to let people know where the slope starts to the deep end. I measured the distance (16ft) and ordered a rope float. Went to install it...

No more pucks, no more problems. Liquidator is my solution

[Note: I've changed the title now that I went with the Liquidator] I've been posting my algae problems over HERE, and the pucks have caused me more headaches than their convenience offsets. I'm going to have to half drain my pool again this year to cut my CYA levels to a manageable level so my...

Trouble with Chlorine levels and recurrent yellow algae

So, I've been reading here on TFP for probably over a year. I probably should've posted last year when I was having issues the first time.... I have a solid Taylor test kit (though I just had to reorder my CYA reagent), test strips for backup, and a local pool store with full time staff who at...
