Unfortunately, that's how all the Hayward (the only thing I can get around here) 2 speed AGP pumps work. from their manual So I either go with that on setting 4 or I just get a single speed pump and use the timer I already have to just turn it off during the day.

Unfortunately the 2 speed pumps I've seen that most you can run them at low speed are 18 hours so you still get 6 hours of high speed. Even with a 75% power savings when you run for that much longer especially at peak electricity usage times I don't think you'd save much. no?
