Pentair Intelliflo 3hp, can it run a "The Pool Cleaner"

Mark: Thanks much for the info, makes sense. I can get it to mid teens at about 2,500 or so, so that works. You've been very helpful and I do much appreciate it. These boards are fantastic, a lot of really knowledgeable, kind people willing to share. I'll tell you, since I got the pump and...

Pentair Intelliflo 3hp, can it run a "The Pool Cleaner"

Ahh, interesting, I was thinking that it would need some kind of reasonable 15-20 psi pressure for some reason. How does one then figure out a backflush schedule / indicator? I was running 15-20 psi with the old pump, backflushing at 25psi. Now, I have no idea when it would get to the former...

Pentair Intelliflo 3hp, can it run a "The Pool Cleaner"

Hmmmm, well, for now I'm going to monitor the power usage even with the booster, am wondering now if some other kind of pump, i.e., another intelliflo would do the boosting at less wattage than the booster. It's amazing, the thing is running at 900 rpm, at 100 watts. What pressure does a sand...

Pentair Intelliflo 3hp, can it run a "The Pool Cleaner"

Mark: Are you saying I can hook up the current Polaris and test wheel RPM straight off of the main pump to check?

Pentair Intelliflo 3hp, can it run a "The Pool Cleaner"

No, haven't tried it, I'm going to try to get ahold of a flow meter to see what runs through it if I bypass the booster.

Pentair Intelliflo 3hp, can it run a "The Pool Cleaner"

Well, talked to the "The Poole Cleaner" people. Turns out you can't run without enough flow, so the 1" pipe' won't work. So be it until I get another idea or find another port. Oh well, PG&E wins on that one. However, I got the Intelliflo installed and it's running at 1500 rpm and under 200w...

Pentair Intelliflo 3hp, can it run a "The Pool Cleaner"

Thanks, Dave / Mark. I think my pool plumbing guy has a meter, will check flow. I'm going to contact the mfr. this a.m. to see what they think. I see the manual, it's interesting that it uses the turbines and flow, not pressure to make it run. I'll update what the mfr. thinks.

Pentair Intelliflo 3hp, can it run a "The Pool Cleaner"

Thanks Jason, I do realize that bigger would be better, if it was 1.5", I'd convert that line to suction side and be done with it, but for some reason it's 1" all the way and it's 60' away from the pool under trees and concrete, not really viable. I'll probably give it a try, a couple hours at...

Pentair Intelliflo 3hp, can it run a "The Pool Cleaner"

Gentlemen: And Ladies, sorry. I'm trying to figure out if I can plumb from the pressure side through a valve to a 1" pressure return line currently operated by a PB-4 3/4hp booster. I want to see if my Pentair Intelliflo 011018 VS pump can pump enough water to run a "The Pool Cleaner"...

Is the Taylor K-2006 FAS-DPD test kit reasonable?, about to order

Triton II TR-100 Sand Filter High Pressure

Thanks all for the recent responses, I just saw them as I posted the chemical analysis. I'm heading to the pool school forum to look up SLAM and how to get a good test kit. I obviously have algae, just realized that high alkilinity would lead to high algae, geez. I'll start reading now and...

Triton II TR-100 Sand Filter High Pressure

Sorry for slow response if anybody still reading this thread, too many jobs... Using a test strip kit, I get: Total Chlorine 2 Free Chlorine 1 PH 8.4 Total Alkalinity 240 Cyanic Acid 100 I'm aware the PH is high, has been ongoing, seems like it'll eat as much Muriatic Acid as I'll give it...

Triton II TR-100 Sand Filter High Pressure

Water is clear, using test strips, all good except for very high total alkalinity, will put up numbers this afternoon. I am having some issues with yellow algae and spots of black algae where water doesn't seem to flow as well, i.e., sit step in corner of pool, and net tie thingies underwater...

Triton II TR-100 Sand Filter High Pressure

Backflush takes a few minutes, I do it the same as my local pool guy showed me. Then there is a setting for rinse, which I do after the backflush. That's funny, probably true about the ocean and sand, does make one think. The Leslie's guy says is dangerous to run above 20's, sounds like...

    Pentair Intelliflo 3hp vs 1hp

Gotcha, sounds like I'm on the right track. I realize that the 3hp might be a little overkill, but i have a potential spa replacement coming up(trashed for now and not a high priority) and may put in a water feature at some point. l'm aware of the Haywards, but my local guy says his...

Triton II TR-100 Sand Filter High Pressure

Yes, does go to zero and backflush water is dirty, just runs back to higher pressure really quickly. I've been told the sand loses it's abrasive edges after some time.

    Pentair Intelliflo 3hp vs 1hp

I'm trying to pull the trigger on a new variable speed pump to replace my Sta-Rite Max E Pro 1.5 hp pump that rattles like crazy and is killing me in electric usage. I'm thinking the Pentair Intelliflo 011018 3hp max pump. But I've been told I can't use it because I have 1.5" return plumbing...

Triton II TR-100 Sand Filter High Pressure

Am in the process of replacing my pump and was talking to the local Leslie's manager in regard to my Pentair Triton II TR-100 Sand Filter. I'm having trouble keeping the pressure down after backflushing. Can get it down to 18 psi or so, but runs back up to mid-twenties real quickly, like one...

    Sta-Rite 1.5hp variable speed replacement

I'm now seeing that Hayward has a supposedly more efficient (claim is 40%) 3/4 hp booster, I presume it would only be more efficient due to a more efficient motor. Are all of the TEFC motors just that more amp efficient if that is a term, lower amps, moves more or less the same gpm at full...

    Sta-Rite 1.5hp variable speed replacement

Is the 2" vs 1.5" plumbing coming into the pump determining what's referred to as "head"? I'm trying to evaluate the two Haywards, and the performance, i.e., gpm is different at different rpms and the measurement is x head y gpm or vice versa if that makes sense, I can't remember a darn thing...

    Sta-Rite 1.5hp variable speed replacement

Any ideas if such a pump would eliminate the need for the additional booster for the Polaris like the Intelliflow and Eco-Star?

    Sta-Rite 1.5hp variable speed replacement

Wow, am I glad I found this place. Thanks so much for the replies. I'm interested in the theory that I could just alter the plumbing as long as the 2" extends a certain distance in that I could go to an Intelliflow or EcoStar, but if there are finally VS pumps for 1.5", that'd seem better. By...

    Sta-Rite 1.5hp variable speed replacement

Hoping to find a solution to 70% of my energy bill going to my pool equipment. I have a Sta-Rite Max E-Pro 1.5hp P6E6F-207L / 230v 10.4a, along with an PB-4 3/4 hp, 230v, 6.4a booster for a Polaris 280 sweep. I'm in Central California and PG&E is electrical supplier with tiered rates, which...
