Raypak heater ( can't get to pilot positon)

Raypak came back with a part number of 003899F. Got many hits on that number, prices vary from $186.00 to way freaking high. Pool Supply Unlimited seemed to have the best price, though I never dealt with them before. Thanks again for your help. b

Raypak heater ( can't get to pilot positon)

Happy 4th too all! So I decided to finally light the pilot on the heater so we could warm up the spa. Little problem with that, the knob will maybe only go half way to the pilot position. I had to work it back and forth a few time to get it to go that far. I'm good at forcing things and that...

    Replacing Lateral's

Ok, got the filter empty and all cleaned out. (wet vac rocks for this). Laterals are also out. I had tried removing the sand plug hoping to speed things along. Well it turned but never did want to come out. Tried tightening also and while it seems to get a little snug it is not what I would call...

    Pipe blew

Thanks guys, it's all better now. So this got me to wondering, is there any type of pressure switch/monitor that can be set for a range of pressures. If the pressure falls below or goes above the set values it shuts the pump off. I was thinking about designing something, figuring if there is...

    Pipe blew

Well it came off anyway. Coming off the top of the multi port valve. There is a gray threaded piece into the multport and a fitting on the other side which the 90 was connected. Well it came clean off at the fitting end. Not sure how it was fastened but the joints were both very clean. I'm...

    Normally open or normally closed?

I just automated my pump with a Z-wave hook up. Basically I'm using a Z-wave outlet in a external enclosure. That switch a 24v power adapter that controls a relay which turns the pump on r off. It's wired in before the mechanical timer and I just leave the on/off thingys on the timer off. This...

    Pool losing water

Well it's past the light and it's still going down. I'm going to start pumping it out this afternoon and also going to try and get the cover off. So either my bottom drain/return line is shot or there is a crack someplace. That I'll know once the cover is off. My question is, what are the...

    Pool losing water

The valves to the main drain are closed and the way I have the plumbing plugged there is no way water can get back to the waste outlet. I don't know what's up. I really hope it's just at the light box. I would think I would see some wet soggy earth with all that water coming out in a week...

    Pool losing water

Hi guys, I think I have a problem. Looked out today and it looks like there is a foot less water in the pool then this time last week. It's already down below all the side plugs and approaching the top of the light housing. It's seems to be dry everywhere above ground so I don't know what to...

    Rayvac to Polaris 360

Stopped in at a local supply store today (Aqua Specialists). Gave them the part number for the Adapter by Polaris. Dude comes out with a different adapter that threaded to both pieces perfectly. Out the door for 12 bucks... 8-)

    Rayvac to Polaris 360

Hello all! Just picked up a Polaris 360 to replace a tired old Rayvac. The pool was plumbed with a dedicated line for the Rayvac complete with filter bowl. The Rayvac line at the pool is 1" and threaded at the end. I see there is what they call a 1" Stub pipe connector (#9-100-8002) which looks...

    First time pool closing

I have been wondering this for a while and have not seen it posted anywhere. If a FC level above 10 causes a false high PH reading then is there a best guess chart for PH? Pool owners with high CYA levels and that go by the best guess CYA chart may need to have their FC above 10 to compensate...

Attempting to get my PH drift a little more stable

Re: So you want to add borates to your pool--Why and How Yes,TA has been consistently in the 70 range. The PH I just cannot keep stable. No water features to cause issues. I had scaling issues over last winter and have been fighting this all season. Lets face it, it's not going to be very easy...

Attempting to get my PH drift a little more stable

Hello everyone, I'm thinking of doing this to my pool now in an attempt to get my PH drift a little more stable. I probably won't close the pool for another month yet. Is there any problem with doing this so soon before closing? I have ordered the Borate test strips and am collecting the acid...

    Strategy to Prevent Over-the-Winter Scaling

Great question, as I too am wondering the same thing. I had scaling issues this spring and I am suspecting due to the PH being crazy high. I have been fighting PH drift all season even with a TA of 60. I am able to keep everything else stable but PH I cannot get a handle on. Suggestions?

    Rough Spots (well all spots)

No waterfall or fountain. I thought the normal range for TA was between 80-120 or am I remembering something wrong.. I do have a question though, well two actually. The only difference between the closing last year and previous years is when the pool light was removed and anchored to the bottom...

    Rough Spots (well all spots)

I'm guessing this must have happened between pool closing last year and opening this year. Would the fact the the PH likes to go high every few days be an indicator that this is/could be happening? Also is there something not balanced someplace that is causing the PH raise issue? Test as of...

    Rough Spots (well all spots)

Hi, we're needing a little advice here. While our pool has been open for a while this year, tonight was the first night we got into the attached spa. (I'm typing from it now) As soon as we stepped in we noticed the seat and the floor are very rough (uncomfortably). Everything was...

    Swimming Pool to Skating Rink

I put a rink up every year for my son who plays hockey. I don't use the pool too much chance for damage of all types. I frame it with 2X10's and purchased a liner from nicerinks.com. Last year sucked for ice but we have had many good years for it. I try to have the rink set up before closing the...

    Hi, from PA

Hi everybody. My name is Butch and I am from Lewisberry PA. We have a 33K Plaster pool with an attached SPA. I started the BBB Thing this year and all is well. Well the CYA level is a little on the high side but I'm working on that and adjusting accordingly. I learn about this site from the...
