I ended up paying the pool startup guy to rewire the pump directly to the breaker. Now i have the intermatic timer turned off and elimated the buzzing sound from the heater. I like to think that it'll save me energy in the long run, but it definitely gives me peace of mind.

To complete this thread, the plaster company also did the tile work. The tilers put the tile down on all the steps and it looks perfect. We had to have the spa re-leveled a few inches and the plasters reworked the tile in the spa during the re-plaster process. I got to see both tile work from...

Thought I would post the resolution - the plaster company chipped away the gunite around the rebar, "burned" the rust off, and then put quick setting hydraulic cement down.

Hello, I have a 2" rebar exposed in the gunite. I want to make sure the GC properly seals that before they replaster. Is hydraulic cement the best material to use? And how much should I use to prevent future rust stains from bleeding through the new plaster? Thanks.
