    My DIY solar reel sags!

It's 1.25 in. black iron, I believe that would be the inside diameter of the pipe. I have a piece of 1/2 in. rebar (10 ft long) inside of it right now just because we already had it, but it's obviously not helping at all. Probably need at least a 1 in. pipe of some sort. What would be some...

    My DIY solar reel sags!

Do you mean that the PVC would go on the inside of the two pipes where the coupling joins them together? BTW...thanks for the advice!

    My DIY solar reel sags!

I just made a reel with black pipe-2/10' pipe with 1 coupling. It has a slight sag to it which causes it to be difficult pulling it back onto my pool. Do you have any suggestions as to how to make the pipe more rigid, where the coupling connects the 2 pipes? It like rolling an egg!!! Thanks!

Protect Intex liner from rock with these!!!!

I think the rubber will last much longer, foam (like pool noodles) will fall apart. I cut them in half to make them go farther and so they would fit under the edge of the pool better. The river rock I purchased does have some rock in it that aren't perfectly round, but as I shoveled the rock...

Protect Intex liner from rock with these!!!!

I recently purchased 2 ton of river rock from a local stone supplier at $22/ton. But I was concerned about the Intex liner, since not all the rocks are perfectly round. I found some rubber pvc pipe insulation at Lowe's for $6.68 and my 24' pool took about 7 of them, which I cut in half. The rock...

putting cover on AG pool with FC level too high

I thought that maybe my FC would deteriorate the cover, I'm so glad I don't have to wait for Chlorine to drop back to normal!. I usually don't wait this late to close my pool. So in the morning I'll cover it. I was wondering, should I leave my pump connected for a while with the cover on so I...

putting cover on AG pool with FC level too high

I'm closing my AG pool for winter, have vacuumed and shocked with 78% cal-hypo (2 bags- I know I used too much since my CC was .5 or less) and then vacuumed again. My levels were as follows before adding the Cal-hypo...

    Help with shock process...PLEASE!!!!

Should I try some clarifier like Pool First Aid? I've been told it's a good product. I've read some posts on TFP and most of the advice for cloudy water is to first check CC level and filtration. If what I have is pollen, should I first try a Unicel filter or first try some floc and see if the...

    Help with shock process...PLEASE!!!!

Also, a few days ago, I tested zero CC. And now the test turned the palest pink with only one drop to clear. Assuming it's pollen, since I passed the test other than the clarity, clarifier or no clarifier?? BTW, there are little green frogs in the sleeves of the top of my pool where the top...

    Help with shock process...PLEASE!!!!

My water is only slightly cloudy, but very blue and clear enough to see the bottom. I posted pics on previous posts showing what was in my filter and the streaks on the bottom if you haven't seen what I'm dealing with. It still looks exactly like that.

    Help with shock process...PLEASE!!!!

I haven't been shocking at all. I/we determined that I don't have algae (it's spongy and not slimy). I have been maintaining my FC around 6 to allow for 2ppm drop by the end of the day. I haven't had any CC either until a couple days ago. I know that I probably need to test for chlorine loss...

    Help with shock process...PLEASE!!!!

Just put on the skimmer mesh bag and a nylon to filter the stuff on the bottom. Brushed pool to stir it up. Should I consider a clarifier or wait until I do the oclt test? When I checked levels yesterday, I had no CC. Please guide me in the right direction, I can't seem to completely remove the...

    Help with shock process...PLEASE!!!!

I was wondering if anyone would recommend putting some clarifier in my pool since I still haven't completely gotten rid of what we have determined to be pollen in my pool. I've been brushing the bottom daily trying to keep it stirred up. Today, there seemed to be more of it, like it's growing...

    Help with shock process...PLEASE!!!!

Just wanted to update you all, I've vacuumed to waste and refilled to remove what I suspected was mustard algae. Also made a skimmer sock with the top of some pantyhose to catch the stuff floating on the water and hopefully catch the remaining of what is on the bottom. The spongy stuff I posted...

How I found the leak in my 24 ft. Intex !

 I've had water running out from under my pool for a few days now. So yesterday I filled the water up around 6pm to the maximum water line(where the blue/white squares meet the gray color). Then 24 hours later around 6pm, looked at water level and had lost about an inch, not to mention...

Thanks duraleigh... do you mean to keep vacuuming to waste because that will continue to lower my cya? Or should I vacuum to waste maybe a couple times and then depend on the new filter? I'm sorry if I'm being a pain!!!!!!!

    Help with shock process...PLEASE!!!!

Hey guys!!! Just got home from taking my son to school and the test tube water was pink again. It started turning a slight pink within about 3 or 4 minutes after I first did the test and by the time I returned home approx. an hour later, it was cotton candy colored. Is this normal or could it...

    Help with shock process...PLEASE!!!!

....It does feel squishy when wet and kind of powdery when dry except that it doesn't fall apart like powder. I thought about calling my son's science teacher to see if he would look at the filter gunk under a microscope. Just might do that if I don't pass the OCLT ! .... probably at least a...
