    Frog Control Valve Blowing Out?

Yes, brand new. And......I'm afraid I ordered the Frog with the pool before I found this site. It was a DIY install and I've dedicated all my time to getting the thing in the ground and filled with water. After I get my pump house built, I'll take a little time to look into a better way to...

    Frog Control Valve Blowing Out?

Anyone ever experience their Frog (chlorinator) control valve blowing out when pump is on high? Mine has done it twice now and I can't see where any parts are missing.......the control valve just presses in and there doesn't appear to be anything that locks in in place? Glad I was home when...

    Hayward Tri Star Two-Speed Questions

Thanks BoDarville....I appreciate the clarification. I'm back at the drawing board on this one.....I know my current set-up is wrong.

    Hayward Tri Star Two-Speed Questions

Hooking up (at least trying to hook up) my 2hp Tri Star Two speed pump on a 20amp, 220v circuit. When I first started getting things together, I planned to go with a 20a, 220v On/Off switch, followed in series by 20a three-way switch to go from high speed to low speed. From what I could tell...

    Controller Question

Thanks Dan, that's what I concluded from researching, but again, my pool experience wouldn't fill the bottom of a thimble, so I definitely need this information from you all.......

    Controller Question

Still in the middle of my install and I'm just now realizing that I need to do something about controlling my Hayward TriStar 2 speed pump. This is my first "real" pool so I don't know exactly what to expect for pump run-times, nonetheless, I'm trying to nail down a timer that can be programmed...

    Hydrostatic Valves Recommended?

I'm encountering a little bit of ground water during my install......right now I'm staying ahead of it with a sump pump and based on the location of my pool, I don't expect the water table to be a huge problem. If I were to let things go unattended, the water would raise to approximately 3...

    Squaring the walls??

All set now....looks like the guy (me) lining things up didn't have his head on straight. Just took a little more jockeying things around to bring the walls into square. I'm blaming it on the steady rain that's been falling since I dug my hole......I think it may have clouded my judgement......

    Squaring the walls??

That's a good point....and not a dumb question.....but in this case I'm using a steel tape stretched tight.

    Squaring the walls??

[attachment=0:1fl2am1a]Hodgdon-20130526-00150.jpg[/attachment:1fl2am1a] Thanks for the response...I marked the corners I'm measuring with orange ribbon. At the base of the walls, from ribbon to ribbon, , I expected this measurement to be right at 18'. Instead, it's at 18' 1" and if I...

    Squaring the walls??

Hello, 18x36 IG DIY under construction.... I've got the steel panels in place and am in the process of squaring things up. Should I expect the panel dimensions to be exactly 18x36 ?? For example, at the deep end, i can only get the width down to 18' 1" before the end wall starts to bow out...

    Heater: Wood or LP?

Excellent information, thank you. Do you leave the panels on the roof year-round? I'm assuming there's a way to drain for winter months, just curious if they are built to withstand some harsh conditions such as snowfall and ice. Again, thanks for the advice. TH

    Heater: Wood or LP?

JohnT, I'm definitely interested in solar....can you, by chance, give a bit more info on a good source for panels? I'm in northern Maine, but I can likely position panels for nearly all-day sun in spring/summer. If you're willing to share, I'd like to know more about your setup.

    Heater: Wood or LP?

About to install an 18 x 36 IG and also want to heat it. I've got an EKO downdraft gassifier (205K BTU wood boiler) that heats my house and separate shop in the winter and I'm considering piping a loop to the pool for a heat exchanger (during summers in Maine). After doing some light...

    Medium Grade Vermiculite?

Hello all, New to the fourm and currently getting my head around my DIY IG pool......(pool should arrive this week) Looking for some advice on the mix for the bottom. First of all, is the vermiculite for pools the same vermiculite used in gardening? And, I found a local source for...
