How much Chlorine/Bleach is normal usage?

If the 3 criteria are Repeat steps 3 and 4 as frequently as practical, but not more than once per hour, and not less than twice a day, until: 1 - CC is 0.5 or lower; 2 - An overnight FC loss test shows a loss of 1.0 ppm or less; 3 - And the water is clear. Yes, shocked for ~10-14 days...

    Pump won't fully prime

I had something very similar. I had to buy a new lid for the pump, a strainer gasket did not work. Bought a new lid (more expensive than I thought) for that pump, bought some pool lube, changed lid, lubed up the lid, restarted pump and all problems went away.......no 'water splash' from the...

How much Chlorine/Bleach is normal usage?

Ok, so bleach should be ok based on date, still going through a lot of chlorine. I 'super-chlorinated' a couple weeks ago to kill some black algae. Haven't seen any new blooms, still scrubbing a few spots where the black is in the plaster (ie, the plaster is somewhat porous, black is below the...

Help - Black Algae - Shocking Pool

So with a 4-6 target of FC, keep it at 8-12? No issues with swimming in those levels? If I do my borate additions on Friday, would that help at all (or just help protect against formation of new algae)

Help - Black Algae - Shocking Pool

I have not heard the 20% comment before. IE, the pool after a backwash is ~10 psi. It is at about 12 psi (so 20% above original). On the 'dial' the number is ~20 psi, ie, ~10 psi higher than the original. You know on the filter, there are the 2 needles, separated by ~10 psi.

Converting from SWG to Chlorine System

As far as I can tell, there is no 'power' button on the attached. Looks like hardwire. Remove the control wire in the junction box outside?

Converting from SWG to Chlorine System

I have a rock feature on my pool. It appears the salt in my salt water pool is causing the rock to degrade quicker than normal - I found a pool guy I trust in the Houston area and he said this is pretty common on SW pools he has seen in the area. I tried a rock sealer, but it didn't do too...

I should have said, steel wire brush scrubbing. Is it ok to always use the wire brush for the pool? Don't see the purpose of the Nylon brush. It is a gunnite/plaster pool in Houston, TX

Black Spots on pool - is this Black Algae?

Is this black algae, or could these small black dots be from a bad chemical addition? You can see the size of a jet in the picture for reference. They are really small black dots. I'm new to the forum, I'll be doing a couple other posts about pool chemistry. Here is a pic of the pool...

Help - Wiring for H400 IDL2 into Aqualink Panel

Hello, my pool heater fried - burnt resistors on the control boards. After finding out that there are differences between a H400, and the H400 IDL2 control boards, I have my heater working (mostly). I've replaced the display, the display board, and the control board in the unit. The heater...
