SWG vs. BBB for High CH Water

That makes sense. I don't think the PB was planning on coming back to add chemicals. So with him adding 4 gallons of muriatic acid to the 12,000 gallons, what do I add to even it out? The acid was added this past Monday. Tap water has a TA=170 and pH=7.6

SWG vs. BBB for High CH Water

I believe the TA was either 0 or 10, solution was pink from the start. pH was 6.8-7.0. FC last night was 1 and rising as the trichlor tabs have not all completely dissolved. All the PB has added to the pool is 4 gallons of muriatic acid for the plaster curing, and then a couple days later he...

SWG vs. BBB for High CH Water

i was at the local Leslie's getting some cleaning equipment and CYA and i told them i was doing SWG. of course they told me they didn't recommend it for our area because of the hard water. the pool boy said they are harder to maintain with hard water and i'll have to watch my TA closely. is he...

that's good to here, but contradicts your response to my other thread about sealing limestone rocks along our spillway.

    Sealing Natural Rock Waterfall/Spillway

why is that? research I've done shows limestone does not dissolve in saltwater. are you suggesting if we go with the SWG we need to seal the spillway also?

    Sealing Natural Rock Waterfall/Spillway

my PB is about to seal the limestone rock around our spa and travertine coping around our pool. he suggested not sealing the rock on and under the spillway of the spa. we are going back and forth on whether to do SWG or BBB, and the rock we chose is a limestone from Iowa. any advice will help!

SWG vs. BBB for High CH Water

Unfortunately, i live in a region with hard water. my tap water has a CH of 400. sourcing fresh water that isn't hard is not possible, and plumbing my water softener to the auto-fill is not ideal. we are currently in the process of building our pool, with just a couple more days left in the...

he's a good builder, we've just had to stay on top of him, making sure everything was done in a timely manner. he's got 3 other pools in the process right now. we did have a leak around 2 of the spa jets and in between the plaster and the rocks along the spillway. PB sealed everything with...

everything i've read states that is a common myth about bull snakes, but they are good at controlling rodent population. i wasn't sure if it was poisonous or not at the time, but i know now its not and won't take out another ;) wife said she will have the shotgun ready in case any rattlers come...

pool is almost filled up! going on 24 hours now, and probably 2 or 4 more to go. we discovered 2 leaks on the spa. PB believes the plaster around the jets isn't fully sealed. i sure hope that's the case. PB is doing an Acid start-up for the plaster

We have 2 small dogs that a bullsnake could probably kill. Rattlesnakes are more common around here, which I thought it was at first and why I killed it. Of course it had no rattlers. Anyways. PB showed up around 7am this morning and started plaster...

New Pool Build - Midland, TX

Been awhile since I last updated this. We had to wait about 10 days for rebar and ground wire inspection from the city. Last week they poured the concrete deck and got the first color and sealer on; one more to go once everything else is done. Rain delayed them late last week and they've spent 3...

that is easier said than done, i'm afraid. ever since the drought last year, pool builders were required to truck in fresh water. not a requirement anymore, but the only times i would legally be allowed to fill it with city water is on my 2 watering days for 4 hours each day. but its cheaper to...
