    AquaPure EI Series

I looked at my plumbing and the builder didn't leave enough spare pipe to install something like this. I'll bet that's often the case. I'll have to go with a more conventional install.

    AquaPure EI Series

Is anyone familiar with the Jandy AquaPure EI Series? I don't see anything in the forums and it looks like a new model. It's a 15 minute install. You drill holes in an existing line and plug it in. The installation reminds me of using a saddle valve to install an icemaker...

Cannot maintain FC in clear water

I'm still working on this, but now I have the FAS-DPD test. I do feel properly equipped to shock the pool. Sunday I maintained the pool at shock level (14-15 ppm). Monday I overslept, so didn't get an AM reading. Monday evening I was at 1.5. I ran it back up and kept it up Monday evening...

Cannot maintain FC in clear water

This season I opened with granular CYA from Leslie's, then I added a gallon of liquid for expediency. What I have on hand now is HTH CYA from WalMArt, which is 99% CYA. I do have a cover. When I working on it, like this weekend I leave it open all day. Other days I toss in a gallon or two/day...

Anyone ever use Modular Deck Tiles?

I've got something similar. I used 6 or 8 of them to make a large doormat outside my backdoor. Buying a limited quantity the cost was not a problem. I've had them about three years. The wood shows the normal signs of weathering, but still looks good.

Cannot maintain FC in clear water

I continue to struggle with inability to hold CYA and FC. Since the last post I added CYA that should have been +30. That would take me to 50. I was aiming high since it was falling. I checked CYA today and it's about 30. It's still clear, but the chlorine levels are volatile to say the least...

Cannot maintain FC in clear water

Two votes for "keep dumping in chlorine" ... so that's probably how I'll be spending my father's day weekend. FC 0.5 CC 2.0 PH 7.2 (aerating since last test) TA 120 CY 20 (dropped 10 in a couple of weeks)

Cannot maintain FC in clear water

I have used what I thought was an embarrassing volume of chlorine in the past month - until I read about other people using 100+ gallons. I've gone through 16 gallons of 12% and maybe 30-174 oz 6%. I feel like I'm wasting money, so I want advice before I proceed. I winterize and have a solid...

Lowering Total Alkalinity with a Pressure Washer

I'm closing the pool this weekend. I've just tested the water for closing and the TA is down to 80. Yipee! The pressure washer aeration worked for me. The chemistry is looking great, the water is crystal clear, and I'm ready for winter.

Lowering Total Alkalinity with a Pressure Washer

I've never used anything in the pressure washer other than plain water. That's a good point. The pressure washer generates an enormous amount of bubbles in the pool. It's very much like I'm shaking the whole thing. Yes, I realize now after reading TFP that aeration raises PH so you can add...

Lowering Total Alkalinity with a Pressure Washer

I fooled around and drove my TA to about 240 this summer. I began working on TA a recommended here. I brought the PH down with muriatic acid and aerated to bring the PH back up. Given such a high TA it was going to take several cycles and aeration is just so dang slow. As I read on the site...

    Frustrated with low pH

I forgot a big source of my annual CYA drop ... winterizing the pool. I guess I drain 2,000-3,000 gallons to winterize the pool. That would account 20-25% drop in anything that accumulates. You'll be glad to know my trichlor tablets are gone. I've got 10-12 pounds of dichlor left. I should be...

    Frustrated with low pH

I plan to stop using trichlor and dichlor once my current supply is gone and move fully to BBB. I've been using trichlor without driving my ph down in previous seasons. I've never had to work on raising ph before. I'm baffled by the change, but I guess the change doesn't matter. "Get a good...

    Frustrated with low pH

This season my pH has been low and I've been unable to bring it up. Pool Calc says I need 1-2 boxes of borax. However I have already added 4 boxes of Borax in the past month with no longterm effect. The highest pH reading I've seen is 7.2, but it slips back down after about a week. Do I keep...
