    Welcome to TFP :wave: The door on the skimmer/weir probably needs a little sanding at the point it touches/hangs-up on the housing. Planning it sound a little like over-kill to me :roll: You may be able to hand sand it with the door in place. If it's a real old pool the plastic retainer clips...

    Brand new here, and in need of a new filter

    Welcome to TFP :wave: I just had a new pool built. It's got a Hayward DE7220 my guess is, it may depends on your pump GMP/HP, but I'm not a real world expert. I've had DE, Sand and Cartridge Filter types. I favor the DE,I'm a pool owner for 25 years +. DE is more user friendly IMHO...

Then do the same after you add clean sand... Take note the difference to see if you possible have a foreign object/trash jammed in...

    Welcome to TFP :wave: When is the last time you cleaned out the grids inside the DE filter? Backwashing is fine but a thorough cleaning the girds ( At least once a year).This may improve pressure/flow the process is slightly involved though. it involves using a spray nozzle with a cones...
