Sequestrant for iron compatible w/Polyquat 60?

I read the stain guide and our staining must be iron because Vit C wipes it right off. Ordered the ascorbic acid but I'm confused about which sequestrant for iron is compatible with Polyquat 60, which I was planning to use to keep algae away while the chlorine's down?

    pH target vs. ideal?

We've suddenly had a lot of rain here lately and with the Taylor K-2006 kit I show: pH 7.3 TA 150 FC 5.5 but just added liquid chlorine to raise to 6+ CC 0 CYA 50 CH 110 Should I add the suggested amount of Borax or point the return jet up to aerate to try and raise the pH, or leave it alone...

Cheap robot that will pick up dead algae dust?

Could anyone recommend an inexpensive robot under $200 that is able to pick up and hold onto dead algae dust on the bottom of the pool? And I've never used a robot before....are they gentle on the liner? Thanks!!

Struggling for a month now with this pool

It's a new cartridge filter we put in 4 days ago and then cleaned it yesterday after vacuuming. I think during slam we've been taking out the filter to clean it every 3-4 days even without any noticeable change to PSI

Struggling for a month now with this pool

I hadn't thought of scrubbing the skimmer or skimmer door...I'll do that! I didn't know there was an "inside" of the ladder 🤯. We'll take it out and examine it. When I was vacuuming yesterday, I did once in a while walk across a spot that felt a little slick on the bottom, and was thinking that...

Struggling for a month now with this pool

Thanks. At this point my husband thinks the dead algae is just always going to be there every day and wants to give up. I don't know why it's still showing up. I see more on the bottom again today. Our FC hasn't gone under 17 in almost a week. We took out and cleaned the ladder multiple...

Struggling for a month now with this pool

Thank you so much for all of your help, truly. I'm intimidated by the stain guide 😱 Is there a separate section where I should post if I have questions during that process, or should I just keep up this thread? I don't even know what dry acid is. I had thought these were organic stains, but...

Struggling for a month now with this pool

I think I'm on day 14 of slam. I did OCLT a couple nights ago and there was none. I didn't stop slamming because I still saw some dead algae on the bottom yesterday. Today there was only a small amount of dead algae, which I vacuumed and then cleaned the filter, and 0 CC. I've got knots in...

Struggling for a month now with this pool

Okay, I think I finally got the app set up right. Can you see my log now? It's also here. The pool is clear now, but not crystal clear yet, and am still seeing dead algae to vacuum, so I guess it doesn't meet the criteria to stop slamming yet. Should I be worried for the liner having high FC...

Struggling for a month now with this pool

Thanks...so the filter isn't catching the dead algae? Should I add a filter sock or something? Still slamming, on day 8 of SLAM. Testing & replacing FC every 2 hours during the day. I have been using Pool Math but I haven't logged anything in the app since before I started the SLAM. I was...

Struggling for a month now with this pool

We can see the bottom now looking down into the pool 🥳, though still hazy. There are spots of dark powdery stuff at the bottom that disappear into a cloud when I brush. The past 2 days we've vacuumed it off the bottom (through the filter and then cleaned the filter), but it returns the next...

Oh, thanks! That'll be easier. Should I still use 1 scoop of the powder for a 5 mL sample? Do you think a level scoop then instead of a heaping scoop?

Struggling for a month now with this pool

A little update: today (on the left) versus pre-SLAM (on the right). Definite noticeable difference. Can't see the liner pattern on the bottom yet, but I can see the brush head on the bottom better than I could before. Brushing daily, checking FC every couple of hours...even ran home during...

Thank you!! I will follow all that advice. :salut: Hopefully "another clear pool in Cleveland" will be ours! 😁 Wow, the pools at the link you posted are so clear I can hardly tell there's water in many of them!

Struggling for a month now with this pool

Go Guardians!! Still not over the Cavs 😁 I used Cal-Hypo because my calcium was low (and also I read on some pool site somewhere that it's stronger on tough algae than Sodium Chlorite, but maybe that's not true?). I got CH up to 130 or 135 w/Cal-Hypo and added 1 lb of 56% since then so I...

Struggling for a month now with this pool

Hi! First time poster. Last spring/summer we were caring for a terminally ill dog in a wheelchair and did not end up opening our pool at all, so it was closed for 2 years. The winter cover shredded in places, and we opened the pool a month ago to a brown, smelly swamp. Went through 30 bottles...
