Why do I keep burning thru SWG’s?

Ok, so you guys were correct. My problem was algae. After doing a SLAM for a few days, the pool is crystal clear now. I didn’t realize how cloudy it was before. Thx everyone!

Why do I keep burning thru SWG’s?

Thanks guys. There must’ve been some other chlorine tabs put in at the same time then- I didn’t think so, but it would have to be of those calculations are right. I haven’t done the chlorine loss test- but I will do it tonight and then SLAM the pool if needed.

Why do I keep burning thru SWG’s?

Thanks everyone. Here are some follow up data as requested: Yes, I have been keeping up by adding chlorine tabs throughout this entire time. The FC level has been low, but never completely zero. There is no visible algae, but when it gets very low the water does start to little...

Why do I keep burning thru SWG’s?

We’ve been in our house a little over a year now. Previous owners had a pool installed about 4 years ago. 15k gallons, automatic cover, Hayward AquaRite chlorine generator. From the time we moved in until we Winterized the pool last year, Everything seemed to be fine. But I couldn’t control...

    Definitive fix for spa drainage

Hi all- I bought my house about a year ago. The previous owners had a pool and spa installed, but there is not a “spillway” for the spa to spill over the side into the pool. The spa will slowly drain down over the course of 24-48 hours, and I haven’t been able to figure out why. Once it drains...

    SWG randomly stops working

I travel out of town a lot and would like to add the ability to control my SWG percentage output from my phone. I have tried searching on Hayward’s website but I’m still unsure if this is possible without completely replacing my control box. I have a Hayward AquaLink controller with a Hayward...

    SWG randomly stops working

So…. Next question is this: is there a way to have an automated remote controller for my SWG so I can adjust the percentage generation from my phone? I am out of town a lot and can test my chlorine levels via a remote app (water guru). Would be nice to be able to make remote adjustments to...

    SWG randomly stops working

Ok- I think I got it figured out. The pump was wired directly to the 220V breaker, and the control wire from the AquaLink to the pump was controlled by the red/black wires from the farthest right relay. I removed the blue 120v power wire from the SWG, hooked it to the load side of that...

    SWG randomly stops working

So if I need to power the SWG from the load side of the filter pump relay, I’m guessing it is the black relay box furthest to the right in this photo? this is the relay that also has the small black/red wires running to the filter pump-labeled connection on the controller board. Is it just as...

    SWG randomly stops working

Ok- I’m back home now. I had the pump running 24/7 while I was gone and the SWG doesn’t seem to have randomly stopped again. So I removed the panels faceplates from both units. It appears the power to the SWG is coming directly from the breaker box. In this first photo, the blue and white...

    SWG randomly stops working

When I came down this morning, the power was still on to the panel and the pump was not yet running. The no flow light was not lit up. Just the low salt and inspect cell lights. I didn’t touch anything on the panel and I started the pump and watched it for 10 minutes and that did not trip...

    SWG randomly stops working

Hi all- bought a house with a pool about a year ago. Hayward SWG control box, with a “Blue Works” cell, T-3 equivalent. Worked fine the rest of the season last year. After opening the pool this spring, I was having issues with it, and after doing a bunch of online research came to the...

Wiring Pentair Pump with Jandy controller

Hi All- We just moved to a new state and bought a house that has a pool that was just installed within the last 2 years or so. According to the previous owner (and pool builder, who I spoke to) they have never been able to get the controller to communicate with the pump. So the pump just has...

FC and pH issues with salt water pool

Thanks- I can add some liquid chlorine tomorrow, and start draining Thursday afternoon. I will need to buy some more salt as my salt levels will undoubtedly be way too low also.... Wondering about just draining half the pool so I'm not wasting time and chemicals doing it more than once?

FC and pH issues with salt water pool

Thanks- I just followed the CYA test instructions in my kit..... I added pool water + R-0013, then poured it into the CYA view tube slowly until I couldn't see the black dot in the bottom anymore. The markings on the side of the black dot cylinder were at a fluid level of 110.... I was...
