Wiring Aquarite SWG into Intermatic 153 timer

Thanks everyone for your replies. I considered changing the main board, but at $288 cad from amazon I’ll wait until it actually needs replacing. It’s been going strong since 2008, with only replacing the cell once. When I need to replace the cell, I’ll look into changing to a t15. I’m...

Wiring Aquarite SWG into Intermatic 153 timer

Thank you, thank you! Finally a wiring diagram that I understand! Okay, based on this diagram, I have a new plan. I will disconnect the power cord from the swg and instead connect to the the timer, hot(black) going to 7, and the neutral as a pass through to the swg to terminal 1. Ground...

Wiring Aquarite SWG into Intermatic 153 timer

Great. I just want to clarify what I think are the connections. Instead of using a jumper to power circuit 3, I use an additional 240 line into to the timer. Do I connect just the green wire (neutral) to terminal 7 or use either of the new black or white wires as well? Do I terminate each...

Wiring Aquarite SWG into Intermatic 153 timer

Thanks for the replies. Here are the requested photos. I have two 240V outlets which were originally setup one for the single speed pump and one for the heater, with an on/off toggle switch. One of the outlets is now used to power the timer and the other is usually free (especially since the...

Wiring Aquarite SWG into Intermatic 153 timer

Hi Again. When I took off the cover from the aquarite to look at the circuit board, it doesn't have the screw connectors for the power supply numbered from 1 to 4 with the jumpers that can be moved. It is a corded model for the Canadian market that was probably 120V off the shelf. I did not...

Wiring Aquarite SWG into Intermatic 153 timer

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the pump is 230V. The SWG can be changed to 230V, if so on what terminals would I make the connections so that it comes on only when the pump is on low? Does this also mean that any auxiliary load that I put on circuit 3 would also have to be 230V? Alison

Wiring Aquarite SWG into Intermatic 153 timer

Hello, Today, I successfully wired my 2 speed Hayward 1Hp Superpump to the PE153 timer in Mode 2 according to the wiring diagram below. I would also like to run my Aquarite Swim pure plus so that it only comes on while the pump is on low. It is currently set to 120V source wiring and is...

Sand filter center pipe came out when removing multiport

You mean like a couple of pieces of round flat plastic salveged from the recycling bin for the top and bottom of the cracked surface?

Sand filter center pipe came out when removing multiport

Okay, that wasn't too bad. The sand seemed "really" dirty, even after using the hosepipe before I scooped it out. I removed the umbrella type thing at the bottom and at the very base there is a crack, (see pictures). Would this crack explain the decline in filter performance? I'm guessing it...

Sand filter center pipe came out when removing multiport

Thanks for the quick reply! Should I try and clean the sand first with the hose pipe trick and then remove it? Any tips/trick for removing the sand or is just going to be an hour of scooping? Alison

Sand filter center pipe came out when removing multiport

Hi Everyone  I'm looking to you good folks for some help. I just took the mulitport valve off the filter to "inspect" my sand and of course things didn't go exactly as planned. First, a little background. We bought this house in August, 2007 after finding this site the following...

New SWG, conflicting advice about CYA

My pH has been rock solid at 7.6. I was expecting it to creep up given every thing I've read here and the fact that I've got air bubbles coming out of my return jets (haven't quite nailed down the cause yet). Even though my CC is only 0.2 (slight pink tinge disappeared completely with 1...

New SWG, conflicting advice about CYA

Richard, For the record, I wouldn't call myself a physicist either! (My husband thinks I should have written "degree" instead of Ph.D) Two weeks after I handed my thesis into the library, I gave birth to twin boys and I've been a stay at home mother ever since! Anyways, I bow...

New SWG, conflicting advice about CYA

Thanks chemgeek! My Ph.D is in physics not chemistry (seriously)! So I tend to have more of a generalist's understanding of chemistry. The thing I never really liked about chemistry was that every molecule can behave differently because of its unique structure and environment. Now, if...

Re: New SWG, conflicting advice about CYA **Update my test #'s Hello again everyone, Well I finally got a test kit of my very own today :-D These are my numbers from today: FC : 2.2 CC : 0.2 pH : 7.6 TA: 100 CH: 250 CYA: 30 (although I wouldn't say that the dot had completely...

fixing a leak in pipe where SWG was installed

Hi, I just noticed a leak at the seal between the flexible pipe and pvc where the SWG was plumbed into our setup. From what I've read here, I can fix it by dipping some string in 2 part epoxy and wrapping around the joint. Is this the best solution or should I really get the PB out to fix...

New SWG, conflicting advice about CYA

Thanks waterbear, Thing is I really don't see how I could have overdosed the pool with CYA , I put 1.9Kg tub into the skimmer which according to the Pool Calculator should only have raised the levels by 32 ppm. So for now I'll put it down to 2 bad tests and eagerly wait to test it myself...

New SWG, conflicting advice about CYA

The saga continues .... So thanks for everyone's replies I was suitably satisfied that everything was good as far as the CYA was concerned in my pool. I was going past the pool store today after hitting the grocery store so I decided to drop in and get my water tested. So today's numbers...

New SWG, conflicting advice about CYA

Hi, I'm just back from the the pool store with new test results. Everything looks great: Salt: 3120 FC: 3 pH: 7.6 TA: 120 CH: 220 CYA: 60 However, I got grief again (from a different guy) he wanted me to drain my pool to get the stabilizer down to 35...
