    Texas Pool Renovation Has Started

The renovation is almost complete. It unfortunately did not go as smooth as planned. What was supposed to take 45 days took 3 months and counting. I will get pics up soon. We ended up with fantastico travertine coping, NPT jules bright blue glass tile, changed the shallow end from 4.5ft to...

    Texas Pool Renovation Has Started

Before we had flagstone coping and flagstone for the tile line. We think that we are going to go with Fantastico travertine coping from QDI. We do not like bullnose coping so we are thinking of going with the paver in 12x12 for the coping. Has anyone ever done this? They are the same...

    Texas Pool Renovation Has Started

Our remodel has begun. We are changing the coping and tile, replastering with quartzscapes, restructuring tanning ledge and bench, changing to led lights, and changing the depth of the shallow end. Hope all goes well.

Beautiful pool. What tile is that? Also is that Oklahoma flagstone?

    Texas Pool Remodel

We have pretty much decided on quartzscapes due to price. I have seen a couple of pools that he has done and they have turned out nice. He said that instead of a acid wash he fills the pool and drops the ph and brushes it a couple of times a day to remove the plaster over the quartz. Is this...

If we do proceed with this do you think there is any concern for potential cracking?

    Texas Pool Remodel

We are wanting to make the shallow end more shallow. 3' to 4' over a 15' span instead of 3.5 to 5 over that span. My wife is also shorter so she wants it done. Even though when she gets in the pool all she does is float around. Haha

    Texas Pool Remodel

Need some feedback on a pretty major decision. My wife wants to make the pool more shallow in the shallow end. My kids are small now and don't seem to care at all if it is shallow or not. Do you think they will want more shallow end when they are teenagers? Right now it goes from 3.5' to 5'...

    Texas Pool Remodel

I got a couple other quotes from other builders out of Houston and they were higher. The pool is 26000 gallons so maybe that is the price difference. I wish I could get the satin matrix that much cheaper so that this decision would not be so hard. 2 of the builders said that 80% of the pools...

    - - - Updated - - - Thanks for the replies. I somewhat agree with the satin matrix if it was your money. Haha. Since it is my money I am having a hard time justifying the extra cost.

    Texas Pool Remodel

SWG is a possibility at some time. We have a light colored flagstone now that is not in great shape but I do not think that the previous owner took care of it. Would sealing the flagstone protect it from the salt if we went that route?

    Texas Pool Remodel

We are about to start on a pretty big remodel on our pool. Redo coping either flagstone or Travertine. Redo waterline tile. Replaster. Possibly make shallow end more shallow. Right now it starts at 3.5 ft and goes to 5 ft in about a 15 ft span. Redo waterfall. We have been quoted $5000...

    Pump replacement help needed

I just got the 1.5 hp. At 35% there is almost 1 or 2 lbs reading on the filer gauge. Also there is hardly any flow coming out of the jets. Is this normal when operating in these low flow motors?

So I should just stick with the 1.5 hp and not worry about it. Thanks for your help. There is enough variables to make it confusing.

    Pump replacement help needed

Thanks for the clarification. I was planing on running the 1.5 hp at a much lower rpm for a longer period of time. Would this still be ok? Is it better to get the 3 hp and run it at the lower rpm for a longer period of time? Does it even matter? The only time I would be at the higher rpm is...

    Pump replacement help needed

Any help is greatly appreciated. Should I get the 3 hp or the 1.5 hp? If the pump is going to be run at the lower rates does it really matter? Thanks

1stoppoolsupply.com has the 3hp for $351 plus about $40 shipping. I already ordered the 1.5 hp but could return it if the 3 hp is worth the extra $.
