I would replace the clamps. I actually use two clamps on each connector and tighten them pretty tight.

Re: Finally Putting up Pictures of my Pool and Deck from 201 That looks amazing. I'm hoping a deck is in my summer plans here.

    Intex SWG

The thing about putting it on the same timer as the pump, is that the power is removed when the timer switches off...I could just set it to come on and go off with like a 1/2 hour leeway.

    Intex SWG

I just got one of these from Walmart for $90. I use a timer to run all of my pool equipment, I also have constant power out there. I take it I would just set the swg to the same time that I have my timer set for. What happens if the SWG were to come on before the pool pump?

    Testing Pumps

Why not just use the pump from your brothers filter and forget about swapping filters then? A pump is a pump is a pump. All it does is push water through the filter, it doesn't know what type filter it is.

New way to heat a pool!

The water sure looked green, but the method sure isn't "Green". The eco freaks will hunt them down. I like how they put a muffler on the motor too.

help to fix my new leaking fittings please

We always used schedule 40 underground. Some towns have different codes though. Seems like schedule 80 was always used to go from outside plastic sewer to inside sewer. Probably because of all the old clay and cast iron sheering off at the wall. It would probably be a good idea to use it...

    DIY Slide

I used to lay those pipes. They are 21' long, it looked like he cut off about 5' at the end of it. The slide is about 35' long then. I would hate to run my arm down one of those cut edges coming down too, it would be sharp. My brother took a 36" piece of this stuff, and ripped it down for a...

    pool heater

In the right circumstances... I saw a lady tapping into a plastic gas main for a residential connection in a new subdivision smoking a cigarette. I have ripped out more gas mains and services than I can count (because they were not located) and stuck a probe through 2 high pressure mains. The...

    pool heater

How do you think the "pros" do it? They do it themselves. I did plumbing for 14 years, if you are not sure of your skillz then pressure test before making it live. Not exactly rocket science. Setting a manhole 37 feet deep in running sand is a bit harder, or fixing a watermain break when it...

Anyway to fix a leak in the undrgrd pipes wthout conc remvl?

On a side note, whenever we would tunnel anything, we would order a truck of LSM to backfill with. Liquid Sand Mix. It came in a concrete truck, you could request it with or without a bit of mortar mixed in. Basically just super saturated running sand, fill the hole, the wetness seeks its own...

    pool heater

I got my male adapters for roughly $35 each. 1". I got it from Munch's Supply in town here. Go directly to a plumbing/heating supply and buy everything. The yellow plastic gas line should be available there too.

    AG Pool Cleaners

I get in, and move slow, and vacuum manually. Very relaxing. I tried an automatic, a ladybug thing from my brother, the pool circulation just blew it around in a circle. Totally useless for me.

    Leak troubleshooting and repair

I would just dig it up and fix it. Like you said, time to cut concrete. If you plan on jack hammering, we came up with a trick to keep the mess down. Get a mop, a stringy kind, old school, get it wet, and jack hammer through it. The wetness keeps the dust down, and also keeps the rocks from...

Anyway to fix a leak in the undrgrd pipes wthout conc remvl?

I was a plumber for about 10 years, not any more though. I honestly cannot think of any camera that would fit in a pipe under 3 inches. Even if it would fit in a 2", I seriously doubt it would go through a bend. About the only thing to do is segment test with pressure, either a stack test...

How will I know that I have the Ideal TA?

I am thinking my TA is like 120, lowered it from about 240 over last year, but, my Ph is stable, so I am no longer going to mess with it. I had to add some borax one week, and a bit of acid another, a couple weeks apart, but that is good enough for me.

    pool heater

I live in Illinois, and have a gas heater. I installed about 80' of plastic gas line, and about 30 feet of black iron, plus electric. The heater I got off of Ebay for about $500, like 1/2 what retail is, delivered. It does what I want it to, heats the water, if you leave your solar cover on...

Pool toys and something to hold them or store them in?

One thing to keep in mind if you are planning on making one yourself. If you put caps on the end of all the pipes, it is going to warp. The sun will heat it up, and the air will have no place to go, which will stretch the pipe or warp it. I like the idea of 3" pvc filled with concrete for a...

Night time filling of above ground pool

The second time I installed my pool, we moved it to another house, I filled it through the night. I started getting a bad feeling at around 2am, and went out, and the side was buckled. The cover was installed without enough slack. Needless to say, I got to fix it right there and then. I...
