The pollen will also consume some FC.

    FC Usage?

Just wanted to add and I forgot, I keep my CYA at 40. My pool is in full sun also and at the most I lose 3.5 FC a day. That's with water temps in the high 80's to 90. Are you seeing a fair amount of pollen ?

    Solar Covers

It makes them more manageable. I cut mine in half for this reason. Mine doesn't move around even with the pump running on low speed. On high speed it will start to spin.

    FC Usage?

Are you confident of your CYA level of 40 ? This time of the year and your water temp not that high you shouldn't be losing that much now. You passed the OCLT correct ?

Need correct info regarding Pump size and filter size for AG pool

Glad to see your happy with your purchase. You won't regret it. It's a top notch pump. It will move some water on high. Nice job !

    Solar Covers

You have to keep in mind your water will heat better on a nice hot sunny day with little wind with the cover off. The covers work best at retaining the heat at night that you would lose to evaporation. So when your done swimming for the night put the blanket on your water till your ready to...

Veterns..please help this novice feel better....!

It's hard to say how long it will take as every SLAM is different. Keep it at SLAM level, 35 ppm FC and it'll come around. POP. Pool Owner Patience !

New radiant pool owner with questions

Welcome to TFP ! Sometimes the gaskets need to swell up to make a good seal. I had the same problem and after a few days it stopped leaking. Give it a few days and see what happens. You can use some silicone if it won't stop on its own. Make sure all the screws are tight. Did you tighten them...

Need correct info regarding Pump size and filter size for AG pool

Yes it will be fine. Make sure your FC is range for your CYA level to prevent algae. Brushing the area that has seen algae if it gets poor circulation will help greatly also. You can also run the pump on high speed for an hour to help out.

    My SLAM is done!

Re: My SLAM readings so far..... You would think so but something is still consuming FC. It sounds to me that you let your FC fall below SLAM level for swimming. This could be dragging things out a bit. You can safely swim at SLAM level for the CYA level as long as the water is clear.

    High CYA

Get the bleach in there ASAP. I would target at least 7 for your FC and never below 4.

    My SLAM is done!

My SLAM readings so far..... Look for anywhere algae could be hiding. Ladder toy's things like that. Something in there is still consuming FC. Yes keep your SWG off for the OCLT. Make sure pump is running for it also. Brush also.

    Green Pool = Mad Wife

Most algaecide's contain copper as it is an algae inhibitor. No reason to put copper in your water. The only one I know of is polyquat 60 algaecide which doesn't contain copper. The only way to kill algae is high levels of chlorine. Algaecide's won't kill algae. All you need to do to prevent...

Annoying "dirt" on pool floor HELP!

+1 ^^^^^ to everything Jason said. It could also be when you last had the swamp you didn't get everything killed off. Order the test kit. I recommend the TF100 with the XL option. You will get more of the reagents you need to SLAM the pool.

Welcome to TFP ! If it just poofs up and disappears when it's touched it's likely dead algae. Light brown in color ? Test results and which test kit your using please !

    CYA question

Yes it's the same method via the sock in the skimmer. Remember it won't fully register on a test for up to a week. By solid they are referring to granular form. There is also liquid but it is rather expensive.

    losing fc

I agree with Jason do the OCLT test to rule out if something is consuming FC. Post back your results and we can go from there.

    losing fc

It's not uncommon to lose 2-3 ppm of FC per day. If I'm understanding your post correctly your losing 4.5 over a few days which would be fine. You can check if there is organics consuming FC by doing an OCLT Test.
  26. pwrstrk

    My first slam, need advice.

Yes you need to be at shock level and keep it there as best you can by testing as often as you can. Your shock level FC is 16. The longer your FC stays at shock level the quicker it will clear. I understand life gets in the way so just do the best you can. Get as much debris out of the pool as...

    Pollen

Another vote for skimmer socks. Just keep an eye on them as they will capture a lot of junk and starve your pump of flow.

Need correct info regarding Pump size and filter size for AG pool

Welcome to TFP ! I would keep your present filter and go with a 1 HP 2 Speed pump. The Hayward Power Flo Matrix is a very good pump. Lots of folks on the forum use it along with myself. You would save a lot in your electric bill by running the pump on low speed 90% of the time.
