What am I doing wrong? Chlorine isn't going up.

Tested this morning. 3/30/25 5:59a - 10.5 FC, 0.5 CC Since there was no chlorine loss, water is clear, and CC is 0.5, that means it's done, right? Thanks.

What am I doing wrong? Chlorine isn't going up.

I mean, I'm not trying to keep it low. It being low is the problem I'm trying to fix. I don't know why it's not staying up like it did last year at this time. I know the CYA needs to come up but I don't think that's the problem just now because the FC is low in the evening and in the morning...

What am I doing wrong? Chlorine isn't going up.

Hey Everyone, The pool was finished about 2 years ago. I keep the pumps going year round, so no closing or opening. Just adding liquid chlorine over the winter. Last year right before it was warm enough to swim, chlorine levels looked good once I got more salt in the water. This year that...

My Filter's Pressure Gauge Doesn't Seem to be Working

Thanks all. I figured it would be bad but want to be sufficiently prepared. Nothing worse than thinking something is small problem, taking things apart, then learning you have a bigged/different problem that you know have to scramble to get parts for / figure out. :)

My Filter's Pressure Gauge Doesn't Seem to be Working

Thanks. Would you agree it's a bad gauge? Would it be possible for the pressure to be so high after a few months of non-use and clear water that it's off the chart?

My Filter's Pressure Gauge Doesn't Seem to be Working

I cleaned the filters in September when we stopped using the pool but we don't close the pool completely. Chlorine and pH levels were checked and adjusted throughout the winter. There hasn't been much debris in the pool at all. Water is still flowing fine from the looks of the pool. Seems like...

Hole in 18-month old Gunite Pool on a Step

It's just the plaster. Didn't go down more than a millimeter.

Hole in 18-month old Gunite Pool on a Step

No, we used it a lot this year, just not in the last month as the kids went back to school, baseball picked up, and it got cooler. I texted him the photo and he said he could have someone add hydrolic cement.

Hole in 18-month old Gunite Pool on a Step

My pool was finished in April 2023. We haven't been in it in over a month, and I just saw a finger-tip-width hole in the top of one of the steps. How could this have happened, so I can prevent it from happening again, and what can I do about it now? Thanks.

    Help with scheduling Pump RPM

Thanks. How do I find out the minimum RPM needed to generate chlorine? Seems like there are 3 variables with the equipment: pump RPM, SWG %, and duration. Is it just trial and error to determine the sweet spot? Last season I ran it at 3000 RPM for 12 hours a day and that was sufficient at 100%...

    Help with scheduling Pump RPM

Hey Everyone, I have 2 pumps (see signature), a main pump that feeds the SWG and another pump that simply runs the bubblers and spillover. I just realized I could adjust the RPMs. I'd like help figuring out what settings to run each pump on. The pool skimmers don't do a great job even with...

When do I go back to normal pool operation? (In central Alabama)

Thanks. I heard about the mineral pack. I was planning to not replace it as it's been about a year. Will not replacing it be the same as running it without the pack?

When do I go back to normal pool operation? (In central Alabama)

Thanks! Any particular type of LC? And use Pool Math to calculate how much, correct? I assume I'm trying to get it back to normal swimming levels? I ran the pumps from 6am to 10pm to keep the chlorine up. They are running on an opposite schedule now, from 10pm to 6am. I'd rather keep to the...

When do I go back to normal pool operation? (In central Alabama)

Got my pool end of April last year. Once the weather got cold, I switched to running the pumps overnight only to keep things from freezing. Testing shows no chlorine but I'm guessing that's due to the water temp and the SWG not creating chlorine. The water has stayed is nice and clear. The...

How to keep the pool open in Birmingham, AL

Thanks again. One more question. Would it help to get a cover to put over the main pool like this one during the winter? https://www.amazon.com/Sun2Solar-16-Foot-32-Foot-Rectangle-Above-Ground/dp/B01E8XMZ0W

How to keep the pool open in Birmingham, AL

Thanks for the reply. What about the tanning ledge and the spill over? I'm guessing just keep that running with the pump over night and should be fine, I assume?

How to keep the pool open in Birmingham, AL

It usually doesn't stay below freezing long around here. Pool is large and oddly shaped, so I have no cover. I also have a raised tanning ledge that spills into the main pool. It's about 8 inches deep. I've got 2 pumps, one for the ledge spillover and the main. Also have the filter, the heater...

    Did I mess up??

It does have the mineral cartridge according to Google. I'm going to try a different vitamin c tablet. the last one was chewable. maybe that's why it didn't dissolve well.

    Did I mess up??

I hear you. As I said, the last time I left a tablet on the plaster it seemed to make it worse. I don't know if that's because the tablet stained it or because something similar to what happened here happened - meaning the small amount of iron in the water concentrated around the tablet and made...

    Did I mess up??

I would be surprised because that photo was 2 months ago and the iron was addressed. There has been no discoloration since. There has been top off since then but that water goes through an iron filter where it comes out under 0.3ppm. So it would be diluted even more and well under the threshold...

    Did I mess up??

The first photo is no stain. Second photo shows the stain. I'm not good with colors, I just know the stain is different than the surrounding plaster and not blue. Before adding the salt and acid, there was nothing there and nothing else happened. No water was added to the pool, or anything...

    Did I mess up??

Yesterday afternoon my water tested high pH and low salt in my 35k gallon SWG pool. So, I added a gallon of muriatic acid, which I've done a few times already this season, and 3 40lb bags of pool salt. I added the acid first, all around the pool. About 15 minutes later, I added the salt by...
