    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

Yes i did read some stuff from pool school, and yes, i have learned some things i did wrong, and it seems you've never heard the term of "nuke". a nuke kills everything, except roaches. Now, when you "shock" a pool, you kill everything in it. Thus, the slang for it, "nuke"

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

Ok, when i added stabilizer, i had to add twice as much as i should have, according to the pool calculator. And that got it up to 25ppm

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

But, it no longer seems that there is algae in the pool, but a bunch of calcium. so i don't see a huge reason of keeping it high. So, when my pool will be normal again, how would the shock process be done? wait for it to go down to 2ppm, or always keep it high?

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

Well, the cloudiness is gone, but that may be because i didn't move the water around. I thought 12ppm is the shock level, then wait for it to go down to 2ppm, and repeat. And no, i don't have a CH reading yet.

By nuke, i mean shock.... And i add one pound of shock to my pool.... it raises it to about that level.

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

My test has total chlorine that goes like this, .5, 1, 2, 3, and 5ppm. I don't know why the numbers don't go higher, but thats what i have. Most tests i also saw, also only went up to five. that was in a pool store. Even the guy who does the tests for free for me, his also only goes up to five...

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

My CYA is about 30ppm. I have been trying to adjust the ph and alk, but it never seems to go down. No matter how much acid i add.

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

The more and more i think about it, the more and more i think it is calcium deposit from it. it settles like sand, does not dilute easily, and seems just like the stuff we have to remove from our water heater. (we have a lot of calcium in our water already.) But i did try the CH test again, and...

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

How in the world would it help??? i never check the hardness, because i heard it doesn't matter much in a normal above ground pool. I know my ph and alk is high, my test tells me that. it also tells me when my chlorine is gone/low. what more do i want?!

Is it possible to buy a kit, that only has FC? or has FC and the other few that my test kit doesn't have? Or, maybe test strip, only for that (FC) and yes, i know, test strip is A BAD IDEA....

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

i DO buy it from Walmart, also the place i got my test kit. I will have the results in a while though, it is about a half hour drive, and we only go once a week. And we went yesterday. So, if i can go sooner, i will have the answer. Isn't there something i can do to start removing it? we know it...

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

As said, again, 45% chlorine cal hypo 1.5 gal of 6% bleach. And, what chemicals do they send me after? as said earlier, i only use acid, stabilizer (in the beginning of the season), and "shock 'n swim" swimming pool shock. and i shock the pool with that. other then that, i use a tablet time to...

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

You could call it beginners luck, but last year, every time i took some water (about every two weeks) i had perfect water, every time, all the time. I also had perfect water this year as well, until after i got back. the ph was at its usual high place, (I add 3 cups of acid a week) same with...

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

As stated before, it is a 15 ft by 4 ft round pool. my test does not have FC only TC. For one "shock" with bleach, it is about 5 USD. For 5 lbs of shock, it is 14 USD

    Cloudy/muddy water problem.

The thing is, no matter how much acid i add, it always remains up. It was like that last year to. And i used bleach then. ounce, i added half a gallon of acid, (yes, i know, very bad idea) checked it next week, it lowered it by about 5 ppm. And it is a 15 ft by 4 ft round pool
