    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

Thinking about putting the old rat kit mesh on this heater. Ammonia has kept them off my window sills. Wonder if pouring it around the heater will keep them away.

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

Thanks. My pump all of a sudden is not pumping water, so I won't try the heater until I get that solved.

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

Checked and the supply is only 120V. Is there anything else that should be changed other than taking out the 240V plug and installing the 120V plug?

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

Thanks, James. I should be able to figure out what the supply is. The breaker box is outside near the heater. There are two single breakers side by side, but the heater may only be on one. The other may be pool lights. It may be that only one breaker supplies the heater, which makes me think it...

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

Just opened my old heater and the loose plug is the 240, so it must have been running on 120. Where do I test to verify that I have the feed set up as 120 so I can change the plugs without destroying it? The power supply on the old was a red and a blck wire and a ground, so I figured it was 220...

AFS works, so will go from there with the multimeter checking components. Thanks for the help, everyone.

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

You have the new “connected” heater model. The LED diagnostics that were on the back of the board are now displayed on the screen and sent by RS-485 to the IntelliCenter. Can I run this heater from the panel like I did my old one? Can I still run the heater from the control on the top of the...

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

There is so much much noise from my pool pump nearby that I am not sure what I should be hearing. Blew in the tube softly and then harder and didn't hear anything, but there definitely is a noticable click when the red heating light and blower shut off. There is no smell of gas. Could there have...

This heater is brand new, so I would hope all parts work the way they should, but I will try the things you suggest.

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

The blower is on, the red Heating LED blinks on and off, the LCD screen shows SPA temp at 68 and set to 98. After about ten seconds, there is a click and the blower shuts off and the blinking red light shuts off. After about 20 seconds, the cycle starts again - blower, flashing red light, etc...

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

I will let it try to start a few more times. I am not smelling gas. Just wondered if the valve should be bled of air.

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

It is natural gas. The gas valve toggle is on. Do I have to remove and then replace a plug from the valve to allow it to fill with gas?

    New Max-E-Therm 400 won't fire up

Just installed a new Max-E-Therm 400 to replace an old one. This new one has only one LED, which blinks red as it tries to fire up. It keep cycling this startup attempt, but doesn't fire. I thought maybe it was insufficient natural gas supply so bumped it up from 7 inch to 10 inch water column...
