Multiport valve rattle only in filter position

@Texas Splash This is the rebuild kit I used: Amazon.com It's been a little while, but I think I used everything when I rebuilt it??? I do know there was only one metal washer in the rebuild kit.

Multiport valve rattle only in filter position

@RVO Well, I opened the valve but couldn't find any issues. I bought a spring replacement kit... I noticed there was only a metal washer on one side of the spring, so when I rebuilt it, I kept the old washer, replaced the spring, AND added the new metal washer to the other end of the new spring...

    Reuse sand in sand filter?

Yes, it’s a Hayward S244S… so 300# of sand and probably about 400# total

    Reuse sand in sand filter?

I bought a house with a 1 year old sand filter. It recently started leaking from the upper bulkhead… it turns out there’s no support (no slab, no blocks). It’s sitting on the dirt and the whole unit is leaning/settling! Anyway, I’ll have to empty the filter, place some sort of support, fix the...

Thanks @ajw22 I just watched a YouTube video... Looks pretty easy. I'll do that this evening.

Multiport valve rattle only in filter position

I've noticed a rattle in my filter multiport valve so I did a backflush (it was due anyway). Backflush ran smoothly and quietly. It also ran quietly in the rinse setting... I was hoping maybe something had made its way into the housing and got rinsed out... But after turning it off and moving...

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

Thanks again @proavia , I've ordered the diverter valve. And probably not worth messing with the IFCS… I’d rather put that money towards a good robotic cleaner. I am contemplating a heat pump as well at some point… That’ll be the time to replace those brass valves. For now I think I’m going to...

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

It appears to be a Swimquip Model U-3 (Pentair?) 8650... And wouldn't the fact that I have a functional floor drain (if I do get a diverter plate) be all the more reason to get the IFCS system working? Isn't that where it moves the debris? The only reason I'd like to get it working is to help...

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

@proavia Well, the front hole of the skimmer is definitely plumbed to the main floor drain... I just blew a cloud of nastiness into my pool!

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

@proavia Ah, "the brass valves would have to be closed so enough return water flows thru the water valve"... That makes sense. Okay, I'll pursue that at a later date. No touchy right now. Thanks, everyone for your help. I've always been a DIYer but the pool thing is all new to me. Some other...

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

@Jimrahbe @proavia does the IFCS valve looks like it’s missing parts? Not sure why it wouldn’t function? There’s no way to shut it off??? And thanks for the tips on the Weir door… I broke the mounting plate pulling it out, but it looks like the replacement comes with that anyway. I’ll get that...

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

@Jimrahbe I think you’re right, I think the original mounting points are missing. Do those spring-loaded units need something to mount to? Are they just more of a pressure fit?

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

Thanks, everyone... @proavia Swimquip Model U-3 (Pentair?) on the lid and on the skimmer itself is 8650-17 (but there is an 8 stamped over the top of the 1)

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

@proavia No touchy is my "go-to" plan in most things!!! The pop-ups have 2 holes And the front hole in the skimmer does not appear to be plugged... the pipe makes a turn 4 feet below the inlet. @Jimrahbe I need an 8 1/2" Weir door... Can you tell from the pics if there might be a direct...

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

@proavia 3 wall returns (see pics in my previous comment prior to my reply to you). Yes, the hole in the skimmer that is sucking is the one furthest from the water's edge. I can't tell if the closer one is plugged, but it does not appear to be functioning. If the IFCS was an "easy fix" I...

To skim or not to skim, that is the question!

@proavia The only two deck items are the skimmer and the autofill… no leaf catcher. I’m not seeing any lettering on the valve, but I will tear that apart tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the two brass valves are plumbed to. I assume just the returns?… I wonder if that small capped...
