    Chlorine loss problem

The pool shop test reinforced my home test. Normally just rely on home test, but due to the change in CYA I did a pool shop test to confirm. CYA is 1-2 months old. With the CYA, I did aim for 70, but as per earlier post, I added 2kg of CYA when levels were 40ppm only to end up back at...

Yes. Although a number of posters thought it was unnecessary. Just need to find a shop that stocks it.

    Chlorine loss problem

I have been thinking that. It is the only thing I haven’t tried. Just need to find a place around here that stocks it. My normal pool shop didn’t have it.

    Chlorine loss problem

Tested last night after SWG stopped. Added 4 liters of liquid chlorine (to get to 10ppm). Then tested today at around 9am shortly after SWG started.

    Chlorine loss problem

Unfortunately I only have the free version of the app so no logs. However, today was the first time in about 4 months for adding salt. I don’t think that I have added calcium in more than 12 months. It is only chlorine and CYA that is a disappearing. While I suspect I may have a small leak...

    Chlorine loss problem

Just on the CYA levels. In the last 2 months I have added 9-10kgs of CYA. Yet the current level is 44ppm. So something is destroying my CYA.

Below is a photo of the cover. It is made of 100s of cushions all isolated from each other. There was muck in a few cushions that were cut open on the edges, but the rest are still intact and sealed.

    Chlorine loss problem

Update from Sunday. Did a OCLT overnight. Chlorine loss was 5-6ppm. Also did a test at pool shop this morning to confirm, my testing levels as follows: TA 135 pH 7 FC 3.6 Salt 3900 (have now added 60kg of salt) CH 327 CYA 44 Phos 0 To give context to above results. - 10 days ago I completed a...

    Chlorine loss problem

I did an OCLT with a loss of 2.5ppm (6.5 to 4). I also have added 2kg of CYA yet stabilizer over the last week yet CYA level has not shifted since testing a week ago. Since completing the last slam, the only change is to add the CYA and some calcium. Maybe two swims at most. Pool crystal clear...

    Chlorine loss problem

Thanks for the above! I missed it before and have been using an old black sock. Is that an issue? The reason is ask is that, my chorinator is not maintaining chlorine levels. Wednesday at 9am chlorine at 9ppm. By Friday night, chlorine has dropped to 5.5ppm. This is with the chlorinator at 6/8...

    Chlorine loss problem

Now that the slam is finished, what is the best way to get the CYA levels back up? Should I boost the CYA level up to 70 now and then slowly lower chlorine levels or should I lower chlorine and then boost CYA levels. Assuming that I haven’t lost any CYA since last test, it should be around...

    Chlorine loss problem

Thanks mate. Good news FC at 15ppm after the whole day with the cover on (now 7.30pm). I’m glad to have just trimmed an inch around the outside rather than throw the whole thing out (saved myself $1k). I spoke with the manufacturer and they indicated a quick brush around the edges is good...

I just managed to semi-submerse it and scrub the surface. Will see how that goes.

    Chlorine loss problem

FC at 13 or 13.5ppm at 6am (last drop was a double). Cover back on over night to stop heat loss. So could be cover causing the drop even though I have trimmed dirty sections.

    Chlorine loss problem

FC at 13ppm 6.30pm. Today: 1. Trimmed edges of the pool cover where black crud was located. Cover off for most of the day. 2. Removed what I think was a light cover and cleaned behind, but nothing of note in there. Was only loosely fitted so water circulating through there. 3. Long back wash...

I might be able to trim off the edges to remove the bits with crud on it.

    Chlorine loss problem

A few photos of the pool. I also noticed that there is some Crud along the edges of my pool cover (see photo). Could this be a potential source? Not sure how to get rid of this as it is embedded in the cushions of the cover.
