Needing guidance on going without trichlor but maintaining chlorine

Hello! Last November we drained our pool because of CYA at 160 and took over maintaining the pool ourselves. I have the Taylor 2006K test kit and have been taking care of it up to now by adding liquid chlorine a few times a week and using one trichlor tab a week. Now it is getting warmer here...

    Freeze Mode

I live in the Houston area and we don’t get many freezes but we have four days next week bringing freezing temps. Our freeze mode will keep the pumps on and water circulating from spa to pool but it doesn’t kick on the water feature and I’m wondering if it should. Do you also run the water...

On the pool math app it’s asking what chemical I’m using for chlorine but I’m not sure what this one is as I don’t see a sodium hypochlorite as an option.

Very helpful tips. Thanks! I’ve read FC should be 2-4. Is that not accurate? It’s a plaster pool. I’ve ready if you add borates once it’s perfectly balanced it helps to keep it in balance easier and also makes your hair and skin feel softer when in the chlorine pool.

    Starting over

We had really high CYA so we drained and refilled and got rid of the pool guy. I’ve been testing with my Taylor 2006K Kit this past month and maintaining it myself. Here are my test results from today. I’m unsure if I should just leave it as is or make some adjustments. 1. Should I increase...

Getting it Right on my own

This is super helpful! I was wondering how I could do this at home. At first it seemed to disappear at 80 then after ten seconds I could see the dot so I added a few more drops and it disappeared at 70. So would you consider it 160 or 140? How much water should I drain? Do you think I can...

Getting it Right on my own

Hello! My pool guy has informed us he is raising rates understandably because of increases in prices for chemicals ($30 a month more) so we’re debating if we should begin taking care of it ourselves because we’re already questioning his methods. Occasionally we’ve had our pool tested at a local...
