    rbielefeld's pool build

Thanks for the positive feedback. It has been a lot of work, but the kids love it and even when we are not swimming it is so relaxing just to sit and enjoy the sounds of the waterfalls and the overall feel of the yard. :-D

Waterfalls in and so is most of landscaping - pics attached Well, the waterfalls are in and functioning and so is most of the landscaping. Just the deck and a bit more landscaping to do and it will be done. Oh, and landscape lighting to finish too. I must say my original vision is coming...

    FOUND ~ 1 Bug!! :(

Did it look like this? or more like this? They both bite and they both can fly. All beetles can fly. The first is the water boatmen and the second the a water beetle or predaceous diving beetle. The water beetle can take quite a chuck out of you if it bites you. The water boatmen not...

Anyone else clean their pool using this technique?

Growing up in Wisconsin my dad would have me and my friends create a whirlpool in our 24' round Doughboy pool so he could then vacume out the dirt and leaves that all ended up in the middle. So yes, others do use the technique and have for a while. It works great and you should not feel funny...

    rbielefeld's pool build

Well, I finished hooking up the fiber optic lights (we have two in the pool one pointing toward the shallow end and one in the deep end) yesterday. I was really wondering how bright the lights were going to be given the dark finish. I was pleasantly surprised, the lights are pretty bright...

    Filter pump run schedule

Dave, I wil be looking for the pic in the show. Thanks for the input on the pump run time. Ron

    Filter pump run schedule

It should take about 5-6 hours. So, I am running the pump during 2, 5 hour periods each day. 6-11 in the morning and 6-11 pm. Not running the SWCG yet. But will be in a week. So, that may change things depending on how the chlorine level responds. Right now using BBB and the water is...

Well, the decking will be put in this coming Friday weather permitting. I will post pics of the process when the time comes. Mean while we have been enjoying our pool a bunch the last few days. Sure is nice to work up a sweat working on the pool and yard and then just jump in to cool off...

    Kreepy Krawley / Pool Vacs

I have experience with the Polaris units and will be using a Black Max in my new pool. They work very well and I too prefer the pressure side cleaners. I like the fact that it does not vacume to the filter.

So this is where everyone went

Yes, poolforum was great, it is how I found this forum, but it was not much help to those of us who found it after it was not allowing anyone new to register and post. This is a great forum and I hope more of the resources at poolforum will also visit this forum regularly. The more knowledge...

Thanks for all the interest in my pool build. It is just about full. Still a lot of work to do landscaping, getting the deck and waterfall in, etc. But the tough and never-racking part appears to be past. Time to start enjoying the fruits of my labor. I will post additional pics as the...

Prayer request... Christian content, ignore if offended

First, I saw this thread. Hannah is in my and my families prayers. My wife lost her younger brother (only 21 years old) to brain cancer just a year ago. So, we kind of understand how it feels to have young ones with all their life ahead of them fall ill. Any update on her condition? Ron

    rbielefeld's pool build

Thanks for the compliments. The pool finish is being acid washed as I type and the fill will begin momentarily. I have to wait two weeks before I can add salt for my SWCG so I will be adding bleach manually until then as well as getting the water balanced overall. My kids are walking around...

    rbielefeld's pool build

Well after a ton of praying the rain stayed away this morning and the final finish went on. Take a look. Tomorrow morning is acid wash and start to fill! I think I am going to cry. My friend and I basically built this pool in under a month. Still need to get the deck in and the fence...

    rbielefeld's pool build

Got the auto water leveler installed, wired all the equipment to the control box, and set the coping today. All that is left is to clean out the shell, acid wash it, and have the guys put the final finish on. That will be Friday if the weather cooperates. We will be having the decking...

    rbielefeld's pool build

Changed the schedule a bit and did the equipment hookup instead of setting the coping because I did not start work on the pool until late afternoon. Tomorrow we will set the coping and auto water leveler and then we are done and ready for plaster.

    rbielefeld's pool build

Most of the work on the pool today centered around cleaning up last bit of construction debris and grading the area surrounding the pool. Tomorrow the coping will be permanantly fixed in place, the auto water leveler will be installed, and the back part of the fence will be finished. We set...

the coping/tile is not natural it is made by a company called RicoRock. They also make waterfalls that look very natural and that is what first drew us to this company. We will be installing one of their waterfalls soon. Ron
