I was surprised when I tested my pool today and CYA had dropped by 20 in a little over 2 months (65 to 45). Is it normal for this to happen? I thought CYA was pretty stable over time. How often should I be testing for CYA?

My Jandy DEV48's drain cap broke. My pool equipment is underground so water flowed out of the filter for about an hour before i noticed it. The filter was just cleaned last week. Obviously I've lost a lot of DE....but not sure how much. After replacing the cap....Should I backwash and add 80...
