    My experience with Ahh-some

I think that's a real good point about the decay of 2ppm. Whether my starting ppm was 12 or 5 if I am only dropping by 2ppm per day that seems like a pretty healthy tub. Even though I would have a much lower CD with the 12 starting point than the 5. Also a good point about trying to base the...

    My experience with Ahh-some

So decay rate will be different at various starting ppm levels? That was something I was wondering about. CD is very different if you burn up 2 ppm starting at 15 rather than 3. A comparable CD starting at 3 ppm would only mean a loss of .5 ppm. So how do you find your true CD? Seems like it can...

    My experience with Ahh-some

Certified106 That's a chlorine demand of 37% which I think is pretty good. I have an ozonator which I guess may be part of the issue with the FC dropping quickly. I didn't soak last night and it was at 5ppm. I just tested it and I got 2.6 so CD of 48%. Better than the 62% I had the day...

    My experience with Ahh-some

That makes sense with the bather load messing up the actual decay rate. I am sure that the chlorine is working and being used up for awhile after I get out. A good portion of the sanitizer I put in after the soak is probably used up so that wouldn't be a true chlorine demand when I check it the...

    My experience with Ahh-some

So I just tested my FC and CD went from 43% to 62% from the initial baseline calculation. Last night FC was at 7.8 after I soaked and added dichlor. Today (about 21 hours later) it was down to 3. This is pretty much what happened on my first initial fill. The CD steadily climbed for a few...

    My experience with Ahh-some

Yeah for this run anyway an hour seemed to be perfect. Foam and gunk had pretty much disappeared after an hour. My baseline chlorine demand is 43% which is 10% better than what I got the first time so that was a good outcome. I will definitely be doing this at every water change.

    My experience with Ahh-some

I got a new hot tub up and running about 3 weeks ago. I was having some issues with rising chlorine demand which I thought was settling down but started to rise again. On the advice of one of the members (JoyfulNoise) I purchased a container of Ahh-some to do a purge. I have a 250 gallon tub...

Help with getting Chlorine Demand down

Don't know what I was doing on my 13% calculation but that was wrong. Actually calculated to around 50% CD. CD has consistently dropped to where I am getting to a healthy level. I am going to run the Ahh-some through in 2 weeks since that will be one month since initial fill. Dichlor/bleach...

Help with getting Chlorine Demand down

Well I think I may have shocked the spa enough to get my CD down to a better level. A day ago it was down to 62%. Tonight it was 13% which seems a bit low but it went from 3.2 to 2.8 so that's what the numbers work out to. Maybe with the shocking and not soaking last night there wasn't much...

    New Hot tub

I believe I have the same spa as atttech-2(Aquaterra Adrianna). Just got it with the $1,000 off deal. It is perfect for us. Nice seating layout, seems well built. Just couldn't fork out $5,000+ for a more name brand spa. Any spa whether a $300 blow up or $12,000 top of the line spa heats the...

Help with getting Chlorine Demand down

Thanks for the suggestion of Ahh-some. I just ordered some. I just am wondering why the CD is climbing like it is. I did that initial shock of 12 ppm with dichlor and the CD was 52% which is not too bad. It does seem to have topped out at 75% because my latest CD is 71%. I will shock to 10...

Help with getting Chlorine Demand down

Hi, Just got a new spa (250 gal. Aquaterra Adriana)up and running over Labor Day. I have read up on and am using the Dichlor/Bleach method. On initial fill shocked to 12 ppm with dichlor. 24 hours later FC was 5.8 ppm so Chlorine Demand baseline of 52%. First usage had the 5.8 ppm FC to...

Getting chemistry right on Intex Krystal Clear SWG system?

Re: Getting chemistry right on Intex Krystal Clear SWG syste So even though the pool water is nice and clear that slippery layer on the sides and bottom is beginning algae growth? Also with the CYA, I added what the Intex manual suggested for startup (1.3 lbs.). Should I at least add the rest...

Getting chemistry right on Intex Krystal Clear SWG system?

Hi, I just set up an Intex 16' round Ultra frame pool. It has the Krystal Clear Salt water system. Capacity is 5,000 gallons. I put in 120 lbs. of salt and ran the pump for 24 hours as per the manual. I then got the SWG running at the 2 hour/day interval. I tested it after this for copper...

New pool setup-posts settling differently What to do?

I should have done a little more homework on the pool prep but oh well. It is looking pretty good right now. I added 120 pounds of salt and have that circulating for 24 hours and then see where I am at with my chemistry. My biggest problem right now is the pathetically cold Oregon weather we...

New pool setup-posts settling differently What to do?

Yeah I am regretting using the amount of sand I used. I have about 5" of sand. It is in a contained 2x6 square frame so I have a little less problem with washout but that is a lot of sand to compact. I raised up some of the low posts and lowered some of the high posts using samantha's jack...

New pool setup-posts settling differently What to do?

I wasn't even thinking about jacking it up from the top. This might work for me. I agree with you that there does not seem to be any good way to dig out from a post that is too high. I am on the verge of draining the pool and trying to fix things the right way but if I could do this and it...

New pool setup-posts settling differently What to do?

Any suggestions on how to jack up the posts? I tried using a crowbar under the 6x6 wood to lift it up but that ended up cracking the plastic foot on the base of the pole.

New pool setup-posts settling differently What to do?

Yeah I think I used way too much sand-there is just too much there to compact before it gets solid. Boy I really don't want to have to drain the pool and start over but maybe that is what I am going to have to do. If I took the pool down and used a plate compactor to compact the sand would...

New pool setup-posts settling differently What to do?

Hi, This is my second Intex ABP. We had a 12' round by 42" deep with the metal frame which lasted us about 5 years. The new one I set up is the 16'x48" round Ultra frame pool with the Krystal Klear saltwater system. I set up our last pool on fairly level ground that I had laid plywood on to...
