Need pool robot for a pool at my father in laws

I’ve seen some reviews online that show the unit getting stuck on corners in the deep end swimming up and the going back down without resuming. I have a tray/hopper deep end any thoughts?

Need pool robot for a pool at my father in laws

Thanks. I found that review and I was reading it with interest. I’m on the fence due to the relative newness and also the cord. I’m curious if any cordless units are worth considering? Not ruling out corded.

Need pool robot for a pool at my father in laws

I’ve posted before about my pool boy life. My father-in-law has a pool about a mile and a half from my house. I’m the pool boy. He is experiencing a lot of dementia problems and his son is mentally disabled so realistically, there’s not much that people at the house will do other than maybe...

I’m being told I have chlorine lock.

Foam can be the result of the specific additives in the products previously added. I had huge foam issues this year during the SLAM effort. In my case I was using CalHypo as my initial shock and I had a suction leak that added air - the clarifier in the CalHypo is my theory for what caused the...

I’m being told I have chlorine lock.

Here in Charlotte nc I was forced to buy grocery store 7.5% sometimes paying $7+ for 121oz. I went through 3 large orders (20’ish gallons per order) of bleach to get my SLAM done. I would love the prices that you guys have.

Chlorine FC 10 to zero in 2.5 days (w/ Pics)

It’s easier to clean the surface junk when the sand has dried out - but it can be done either way. Check where the sand level is expected to be. Mine wasn’t right, I had about half the sand level expected when I opened it for the first time. Adding 100lbs of sand has helped I think. Certainly...

Chlorine FC 10 to zero in 2.5 days (w/ Pics)

My personal opinion is that if the water is cloudy - I’d SLAM. I’d also personally be more inclined to test OCLT using SLAM levels than normal levels since a 0.5ppm loss is a larger percentage of normal chlorine levels than it is at SLAM. I will also say that an SWG is the best decision I ever...

    Mustard Algae? Stuck on walls

In as large a pool as you have it’s more than two bags. As stated pool math will tell you more detail. In my small 13500 gallon pool a 40lb bag raises my salt by roughly 350ppm. I would guess in a 33000 gallon pool it’s less than 150ppm per 40lb bag. My swg wants 3500 - what does yours prefer?

If you are filling from well water do you know if you have high metal content like iron?

    CYA Mystery

I think I would have added 15ppm or so, maybe 20. But if you added 30 and it even as high as 20 you’d be at 50 which isn’t bad. What is the cya measuring now? I actually had the ammonia cycle to deal with this year. What a pain.

    Swamp Opening (Helping the In-Laws)

I’ve identified two leaks. One is the drain cap on the sand filter. The other is the collar around the multiport. The leak at the multiport is very minor but could be contributing to the excess air in the system. I’m going to get a new o-ring and a new cap with gasket to see if that fixes the issue.

    Need advice

That’s a big difference indeed! I haven’t ever seen that large a difference in mine with rocks vs new but yours was far worse than I’ve ever seen. Glad you have the new supply. Good luck on the SLAM.

I get rock like chunks in mine and they work fine. I say crush it up and try it.

    Swamp Opening (Helping the In-Laws)

On my mobile that link isn’t working. Will look later. Pool school also doesn’t come up right typically. It’s weird. (Safari iOS ) Edit: copied and pasted to chrome on the same device and it works. Will read later.

    Swamp Opening (Helping the In-Laws)

I backwash at 20% but I can try 25% this year. In truth it isn’t super frequent except during slam. What’s more impactful is the fact I think I may have a small leak but I’m not sure yet. I’ll watch things as the season progresses. As far as how often? At the moment it’s been frequent (just...

    Swamp Opening (Helping the In-Laws)

Frequent backwashing and minor leaks mean levels drift down - I’m always nervous starting low. Maybe 75?

    Swamp Opening (Helping the In-Laws)

Passed OCLT - now letting the FC drop a bit and tune in pump run time vs swg output. Need to fine tune ph and ta and raise cya higher. It should be about 45-50 at this point. I want it around 75-80 I think.

Low salt warning - inconsistent Taylor test results

No. Single speed pump. 1.5” pipe. I’ve tried a two speed pump in the past - it worked ok but that’s not in play at this time.

Low salt warning - inconsistent Taylor test results

Jeff I directly addressed that. It happens without the sock there. And with the sock there it doesn’t happen with the swg off. It’s very quick reacting; less than a minute to start or stop.

Low salt warning - inconsistent Taylor test results

This is year two with my swg and last year was a short season due to a liner replacement that delayed opening. I’m seeing cloudy water due to bubbles from the jets when I test the swg. The cloudiness dissipates over time but it’s weird looking. I’m aware this can be “normal” under some...
