    TA/pH Condundrum

OK, thanks all for the earful (in a good way) -- definitely gives me better understanding of the chemistry. I am wondering though whether the vinyl liner of the pool "likes" the pH to be lower than 7.8 with respect to prolonging its life span? By the way, always have used liquid bleach for...

    TA/pH Condundrum

If I maintain the TA between 80-90 in our Endless Pool as recommended, my pH will increase every couple of days, rather than remain stable -- for example from 7.4 to 7.6 (regardless of swimming activity). However, if I let the TA decline between 40-50, the pH will remain stable for at least...

    Sodium Thiosulfate Chemistry

    OK thanks.

    Sodium Thiosulfate Chemistry

I have a2500 gallon endless pool . . . If I reduce the CL level to reduce effect on vinyl liner and rubber pool ligh5 gaskets, and to be able to use the pool sooner. CYA is 0.

    Sodium Thiosulfate Chemistry

I searched the threads for information on sodium thiosulfate, but did not find an answer to the questions of whether sodium thiosulfate produces ammonia and whether this ammonia, if produced, dissipates on its own. I use the chemical after having shocked the pool for a few hours (shock to about...

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

What is "electrical guru"? OK got it, it's a message back to ajw22 for the answer.

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

Good to know: my pump motor is 3/4 hp AO Smith Centurion 120 V. Electric heater 240 V, 5500 watts. Would the wifi time switch work with the heater load, given the motor load would not cause a problem?

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

Yes, I'd have to install a subpanel, which now makes the project more complicated. So, I'm back to square one and will reconsider the Suraielec Time Switch. Thanks you two for your advice.

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

I misunderstood the earlier point about points of failure -- yes, I agree with more devices on the circuit, if the powering up fails, it will be more of a puzzle to figure out what's broke, and I'm not that proficient with a multimeter!

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

Thanks for the feedback. The smart breaker has connections for incoming line, neutral, and load, but no specific ground (see attached). Since , it would be stand alone, I'm wondering how to ground it?

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

Increasing points of failure? Are you referring just to the possibility of the wifi circuit breaker failing, as that would be the only change in the circuit, or is something else more likely to fail due to adding the breaker? The wiring from the time switch to the pump-plug outlet is three...

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

Thanks, I did read your earlier post on upgrading to Suraielec, but, unless I'm mistaken, a mechanical time switch seems more reliable overall (no software to cause problems)? But maybe I'm being too paranoid?

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

When we leave for several days, I've always turned off the pool pump and heater to my indoor Endless Pool, because if there were to be a leak in the circulation system, the damage could be substantial. Of course, the downside has been some episodes of bad-water quality upon returning. I would...
