Well shucks...3 yrs later and the S200 might be shot

If you determine it's a bad drive motor, it can be replaced fairly easily. Sourcing them can be tricky sometimes, but I found a guy selling them on eBay. Mine did what yours was doing, running through the test cycle before shutting down. Replacing the drive motor put it back in working order...

Maytronics drive motor 5521259-1 disassembly and repair

Drive motor replaced and now robot is working normally again, or at least as normally as it was before. I still have a problem with my power supply (I think) where the robot doesn't respond to it. I have to unplug the robot from the power supply then plug it back in to restart a cycle. If I...

Maytronics drive motor 5521259-1 disassembly and repair

I have it all broken down at the moment with a new (used) drive motor on the way. Once I get it all back together I'll see what it does. I'm hoping it goes back to at least working when turned on. What it did prior to the motor seemingly going bad is that it wouldn't respond to the power...

Maytronics drive motor 5521259-1 disassembly and repair

I'm having trouble with my Dolphin S300 and suspect a bad drive motor. Just curious how hard it is to turn when it's good/bad? Mine takes a pretty firm twist to rotate via the motor shaft, I certainly wouldn't say it spins freely. It doesn't require straining to turn, but definitely what I...

Help identifying rust / metal stain

I have tried ascorbic acid via Vitamin C tablets, which did lighten the stains. Could be something organic I suppose, we do have lots of trees around the pool. I've gone ahead and ordered pure ascorbic acid as my little pills had some elements that caused a stain, the gelatin binders I...

Help identifying rust / metal stain

That's an interesting theory, didn't find anything swimming around the other day but going to look again. Based on the pattern it fits with the theory. There are light stain in the shallow end and the darker clusters are in the deep end where the item might have eventually settled. Possible...

Help identifying rust / metal stain

Appears to be a metal as Vitamin C worked to fade these, chlorine puck scrubbing did nothing. Just curious if anyone recognizes the pattern this stuff left, whatever it is, and can identify what might have caused it? There are around 3 clusters of these and they all have stains with that same...

Pool Contractor Says "NO" Glass Wateline Tile, REALLY ?

I assume my pool builder didn't want to do glass tile because his installer wasn't very good and flaws in leveling are very evident now. Haven't had any problems with grout or adhesion though. But it's very obvious his crew wasn't super skilled and we probably should have gone with the 6"x6"...

Possibly Damaged Heater from TX Freeze - Fixed

Turned out the header slightly separated from the heat exchanger, likely due to ice. It was leaking around where I circled in the picture, but just behind that cover, and dripping out from below. The repair guy replaced an o-ring, secured the parts back together and no more leaks. About the...

Possibly Damaged Heater from TX Freeze - Fixed

Water flows from underneath within a few seconds of turning the pumps on, after being off for more than 12 hours. Looks like a leak, not condensation, have a repair guy coming this week.

Possibly Damaged Heater from TX Freeze - Fixed

Thanks Herman. It's dripping at the moment, no gushing. And it was running for the first day of the freeze, then the power went out, so day 2 was no protection. Day 3 I did some reading and saw I needed to open the drain valve which I did. But no much poured out. Though I had also drained...

Possibly Damaged Heater from TX Freeze - Fixed

Everything seems to have made it out fine from the freeze except maybe the 400k BTU Hayward heater (the most expensive bit). The heater is dripping water at the moment, could be ice is still in it as this is the first time I've run it since the freeze. Assuming the worst and it's a cracked...

    Conflicting readings on salinity

I had a huge disparity between the K 1766 test kit and the Hayward salt cell reading. The test kit showing much higher. I ended up just using the salt cell reading because that’s the one that will cause it to shut down if it’s too low.

    Spa Leak

Final update. PB sent plaster crew out. They applied putty just inside the jets and it stopped the leak. Did two 24 hour bucket tests, pump on and off, didn’t lose a drop. Thanks for everyone’s input.

    Spa Leak

Quick update, still working it. Additional 24 hour tests: Plugged all 8 pressure side spa nozzles (6 jets / 2 returns), no leak. Unplugged 2 returns, no leak. Unplugged 1 jet, leaks. Gave PB this info, he's supposed to send out plaster crew to have a look. If they don't find anything he'll...

Katchakid - Katchaleaf Pool Cover Review

Had a great experience with Katchakid in Houston, we purchased a Katchaleaf cover from them. I sent a quote request via their website, which was followed up by a call from sales. That fellow asked if I would like a site visit or if I would rather send him a drawing of the pool. I sent him a...

How much should a faux rock waterfall/slide combo like this run?

The two primary pool builders I got quotes from quoted $1,000 per ton of rocks. That was for strictly a waterfall type feature, no slides or grotto or anything. We decided to go in a different aesthetic direction and didn't do a rock waterfall so no idea what kind of rock that would have been...

    Spa Leak

The check valve on the spa return was replaced yesterday and it's still leaking, as I thought it might. The last test, with the pump running through Spa Return from Spa Suction, showed the usual ~2" water loss. I'm going to redo the Spa Jets from Spa Suction bucket test one more time just to...

    Spa Leak

Plumbing crew came and determined it's a bad check valve on the Spa Return so they are going to replace tomorrow. My layman testing suggests the check valve is fine, I took the cover off the first valve 'behind' the check valve and detected no leak. One test I had not done, which I am doing...

    Spa Leak

Contacted PB last night, he has dispatched the plumbing crew to investigate the leak, will let you know how it goes. I started a 24 hour bucket test around 3 PM yesterday, as of 6 AM this morning the difference between bucket and spa is about 1 inch. About the same rate as yesterday after...

    Spa Leak

So I closed all suction side pool valves, no joy, water still drops when suction and return valves are set to isolate the spa from the pool. I have a bucket test setup in the spa now to help tell the story when I talk to the PB.

    Spa Leak

Will do! It looks like I can further isolate the pool by closing the individual valves leading to the pool. I'm going to give that a go, to possibly rule out the actuated valves, while I wait on the dye.

    Spa Leak

I'm checking my new build pool for leaks and have observed an overnight 1/2" drop in water level of the (18" raised) spa over about a 9 hour period (12 gallon loss by my math). I have both valves (electrically actuated) setup so that the return and suction are in spa mode, meaning there should...
