    Winter maintenance

I don’t understand - that will put my csi out of range. Can you explain for me please?

    Winter maintenance

Just back from a few weeks abroad, and these are my readings. I’m not sure if I need to mess with this as the CSI is fine. I’ve turned of the chlorinator for now, but my CYA is usually around 60, I keep my TA at 60 and Ph around 7.8-8.0 during Florida summer months and water temp at 88-89 as...

    Ph and CSI

Interesting. No matter what I do it always raises to around 8. And then it sits like that. I’m tempted to just leave it. 8.1. 8.0. 8.2. I just wasn’t sure if that was ok. Just leave it. I read all about the Ph ceiling. My csi is perfect with it at this number.

    Ph and CSI

That increases my CSI to -4… so that’s ok?

    Ph and CSI

I have been away two weeks and using water guru to test for FC and Ph each morning. These two readings are accurate in the new Sense 2 model. I want to know if I need to get my wife to add MA to lower the Ph which has risen to 8.2. And if so what do I lower it to? My CSI is great as it is...

    Problems with FC again

It’s the white and blue bag. I suspect it may be how I’ve stored it. It’s in a chest that sometimes gets damp with heavy rain. These bags always have slight holes in them - I think the bags became contaminated in the outside chest. Well this is my most up to date theory. I have a couple...

    Problems with FC again

Oh I use this function in pool math! Duh. Ok. Once I’m done with the slam I will do this to confirm. Thanks for all the help.

    Problems with FC again

If you pass the OCLT, you could run an Overnight Chlorine Production Test to determine if the SWG is producing at it's rated capacity. I just read this on a thread trying to find out how I can test my new SWG that went in a few days after the bag of salt incident. I want to be sure it’s...

    Problems with FC again

Nah - it was definitely Morton salt. Can’t mistake that heavy load that takes me ages to get to the side of the pool 🤣🤣🤣

    Problems with FC again

And not for nothing - I still struggle to control my SWG. Too much. Too little. But Fc gets checked every morning so I’m able to adjust quickly. Wish I knew how to better use my SWG for consistency.

    Problems with FC again

The water is Crystal clear. No sign of algae (well there wasn’t any to begin with) but no cloudiness either.

    Problems with FC again

That’s when I started to realize I had a bigger problem than just one drop following the salt. Upped it with liquid chlorine, hoping that it wouldn’t happen again, but it did. I usually keep it around 7-8 but over the past two weeks that was becoming impossible. I knew I had to SLAm but was...

    Problems with FC again

Water only got cloudy today BTW. OCLT showed there was an issue last night anyway so I knew I needed to slam before I even looked at the water 😀

    Problems with FC again

I keep the cya at 70. It drops to 60 when it rains loads, which it did this week, and because I suspected I was gonna have to SLAM as swg wasn’t doing as it should, I didn’t add conditioner. The salt looked fine. I don’t use much of it, but it just looked like salt. It literally is the only...

Well tiny surface stuff falls in of course LOl

    Problems with FC again

i don’t know - nothing falls in the pool because of the cage. Do you really think not running overnight is the reason it got cloudy? I have followed TFP to the letter - except in this regard because it didn’t seem to work for me.

    Problems with FC again

I get it. But again - we are a solar powered house, so if possible I would prefer to power the pool with the sun during the day than with the grid at night. And it’s working: well it worked for a year… not so much right now. I’ll figure it out. It clear again, so I’ll continue with the...

    Problems with FC again

It’s clear again. I added the salt as well. Will start doing OCLT tonight and continue with the SLAM until it passes. Thank you all for your help.

    Problems with FC again

But that’s what I did last year when I learned about that on this site. The water went cloudy. Twice. Since I’ve had it running the schedule I have - for a year now following my last slam - I’ve had zero issues. Maybe my pool just needs some time at higher circulation. Whatever, it has been...

    Problems with FC again

I run it 4 hours a day @ 100% and the rest on low. Hayward literally told me to do that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Problems with FC again

Also my heating doesn’t work below 50% - the builder has low setting set at 50%.

    Problems with FC again

Interesting about forcing contaminants back out into the pool… I’ve never heard of this.

    Problems with FC again

We have solar power so during the day works best for us. Overnight just uses grid electricity for little gain. So we run the pool for free. I found if I didn’t run in high for part of the day, the cloudiness returns. While slamming can I run it on lower speeds? I thought 100% was required.

    Problems with FC again

Weekly. And I use a Polaris vacuum 3 times a week that also does walls and tile

    Problems with FC again

It is a new salt cell and I’ve been struggling keeping the FC stable since it was out in. I will give the techs a call once I have slammed to be sure that’s in fact the issue. How can I test it apart from testing from the returns? Not sure what caused the cloudiness - no drop in FC, no...

    Problems with FC again

Will do. Just wish I knew why. I can only assume the slat added a contaminant. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

    Problems with FC again

Seriously I’m stumped - I tend this pool religiously. Follow TFP to a T. I test daily with water guru sense 2 (way more accurate than sense 1 for FC and Ph BTW) and back that up and compare with Taylor’s testing 2-3 times a week. I clean my cartridge monthly and run the filter 10 hours a day...

And the water is slightly cloudy. As of today. Clear yesterday
