Agree, but could they be creating channels in hairline cracks already in pool to access pool water?

There was never a flood. There are slotted floor drains in that pool deck parallel to the sliding doors that had the termites. The water drains into those pool 'floor' drains from pool edge (high spot) to floor drains (low spots). So you are 100% sure the termites could not have caused that rust...
