    DPD vs FAS-DPD

My issue with OTO is it doesn't test free chlorine, only total chlorine. Right now, we use the small containers of DPD powder, but going pool to pool, it becomes a hassle and majority of the time I don't necessarily need to know the level down to 0.5. It looks like I will need to keep the DPD 1...

    DPD vs FAS-DPD

Hello TFP Team, I have not yet verified this since the pool is currently closed..I may add some chlorine to tap water to confirm. Taylor offers the K-2005 and the K-2006. The main difference between these two kits is that the 2005 is liquid DPD and the 2006 is powdered DPD with FAS liquid. My...

    attached pool spa closed properly?

We usually fully drain the spa and blow out the drains/returns if we can. I know of people who do not and have never had issues, but that is just the way we like to do it to be safe.

D.E. filter clogging with clean water and new grids.

Keep in mind when I switch to recirculate, the system is fine. I will retest the chemicals on my next visit, but they were within the ideal range.

D.E. filter clogging with clean water and new grids.

Hey team, I service a good amount of D.E. filters throughout the season but this one is giving me trouble. Customer has a Hayward D.E. 6020 that had ongoing issues of clogging fast. The water is crystal clear, properly balanced based on TFP recommended levels, and last week I gutted the filter...

Need opinions on this wooden pool deck.

We are renovating a residential pool which has been built into a wood deck. So imagine a deck (40x40) with a small octagon pool dropped in. The land beneath is on a hill so the pool is half in ground, half above ground. The track for the liner sits on top of the deck and bolts to the deck. The...

A skimmer that I've never seen before..how do I replace this

I stupidly didn't take any pictures but I was hoping someone knew what it was. We are going to replace a skimmer as well as plumbing on a concrete pool that is about 60 years old. The skimmer is all metal, very large lid, about double the size of a standard lid. The inside has a protective metal...

    Best professional leak detection equipment?

Kevin, Thank you for the expert advice. Yes thats exactly what I was planning on doing with the compressor. I'd like to be able to dive the pool and make repairs for long periods of time without the expense of a tank that needs to be constantly refilled. I also do not have my scuba certification...

    Best professional leak detection equipment?

I'm looking into purchasing professional leak detection equipment. I know Anderson is a popular brand but what can anyone tell me about LeakTronics? It looks pretty innovative from what I've seen on their videos..I like how I would have the ability to also send mics through pipes. I'm looking...

Can I switch this coping to pavers?

This is the current pool coping. We are redoing the liner and want to switch to bullnose pavers. Does this coping come apart from its track and if so, can I put the pavers right on top of that? It looks as if it would sit too high.

Least expensive option to add iPhone app to control pool?

Hey guys, stock pool, 20x40, looking to convert to IntelliChlor. The pool has two pumps, no actuators, a heater and will now have the IntelliChlor. How do I repair a main drain leak without excavating?

Looks like we will be excavating. I went in person to take a look and its a little different than what I said. The skimmer only has one hole and there is only one pipe coming into the pump so am I to assume the main drain T's into the skimmer underground somewhere? My plan is to break apart the...

How do I repair a main drain leak without excavating?

Hey guys, One of our residential pools has a leak in the plumbing that connects the main drain to the second hole in the skimmer. The pool during winter months drops down about 3-4 feet so I am going to guess that the leak is somewhere in that area underground. Is there any way to repair this...

200,000 gallon commercial pool filter sizing

They actually currently meet the correct turnover rate based on math so I'd like to keep it the same, but I don't believe it is working the way it should. They have 6 residential D.E. filters inline, all with 2" plumbing as their filtration. As you go farther down the line, the pressure drops...

200,000 gallon commercial pool filter sizing

Hey guys, I'm working with limited space in the equipment room but if I did my calculations correctly, a pool of this size needs to turn over about 550-600 gallons every minute to achieve a 6 hour turnover ratio. The pool is a salt pool so we selected the Pentair 15HP EQ Series for the pump but...

    TDS Discussion

Re: Undissolved Chemicals I actually did not make my title to say In the Industry..I guess an admin did. But anyway, from what I understand, if your total dissolved solids is high enough, the only way to decrease it is to replace with fresh water. If your total dissolved solids is high enough...

    Question Intex sand filter

You backwash until the site glass runs perfectly clear. Rinse for 30-45 seconds afterwards. It'll change every time you do it depending on whats caught in there. Sometimes I need at least 1:30 of backwash, sometimes only 40 seconds. Don't count the time just watch the glass.

    Undissolved Chemicals

Dunno if this will cause sand to pass through or not but you have a huge crack in your sand filter tube. The water comes up that tube and trinkles down so it shouldnt matter as long as the bottom is in tact. The TDS discussion has been moved to the Deep End. Have your tds level checked as...

    Compressor for Pool Closing

We use the cyclone pool blower (http://www.amazon.com/Air-Supply-Cyclon ... ool+blower) For scenarios where the blower will not fit, we use a Mi-T-M air compressor which we carry with us. I don't know how powerful it really needs to be for this purpose so a small one should do the job but you...

    Does deck-o-seal suck?

I'm constantly seeing pools with deck-o-seal that are deteriorating. The seal gets old, falls apart, water gets under the coping and all the tile starts falling off the pool. We are about to renovate a pool and replace the coping and tile. Should I be using deck-o-seal for my gap? The coping...

    Citadel Heater (Anthony & Sylvan)
