    Pressure question

Ah yeah that was me too hehe. It's been an issue for a while.

    Pressure question

So I don't see a vortex on the skimmer, and the leak detection company didn't find a leak with the skimmer, but speaking with others in the area they mentioned that we have a "black bottom" skimmer which is a type prone to leaks.

    Pressure question

Yeah still have air passing through when solar is disabled, and the bubbles get larger at higher RPM's. I also tried shaving cream and pool lubricant on all of the PVC joints on the suction side but didn't seen any leaks. I guess another question I have, is if I just keep running it as is...

    Pressure question

I only have the issue when running the solar, or the booster pump. At low RPM's the air bubble is small. At high RPM's, the bubble is around 6 inches deep. When the solar heater and the booster pump are running, the pump is nearly dry. I see air coming out of the returns all times that the pump...

    Pressure question

I mean, yeah, it's working. But when the booster pump is on for the sweep, or I am increasing RPM to 2500+ to pump up to the solar water heater, the air bubble is a good 6 inches and the pump runs a bit dry. The pump has lasted just fine for 3 years or so, but my worry I guess is having to...

    Pressure question

Appreciate the reply. Cavitation might be the wrong word. We had a leak detection company come out and pressure test, and they did not find any suction side leaks. I've replaced the pump lid, o-ring, etc with no luck. We have a variable speed pump, and at lower RPM's there is no to little air...

    Pressure question

Hi there. We have an old pool, 25k gallons, with old 1 1/2” pipes. However, the previous owners installed a pentair VSP with 2” pipes, and solar water heater. The pipe reduction from 1 1/2” to 2” is causing cavitation and the pump to lose prime at high speeds. We’ve gotten some quotes on...

Intelliflow Variable Speed Pump Air In Pump

Booster pump is attached on the pressure side, after the water returns from the solar heaters. If solar is turned off I adjust the diverted to send water straight to the booster. Filter was cleaned about a month ago. At high RPM the gauge reads about 12 psi, at low RPM about 7 psi

Intelliflow Variable Speed Pump Air In Pump

Thanks Jim. I’ve had it running all summer without the solar, and it does okay at low RPMs but once I turn on the booster for the sweep it starts pulling a good amount of air. I just turned the solar back on yesterday to test it, and it’s about the same as when the sweep booster pump is on...

Intelliflow Variable Speed Pump Air In Pump

Hello! I moved into a house about a year ago with an older pool (built in the 80's). The previous owners upgraded the pump and filter system to Intelliflow with a Sta Rite filter, and added a solar water heater. The pool itself is plaster and about 25,000 gallons. The issue is there is air...

Suction Side Leak -- Black Bottom Skimmer?

That's great to know. It has to be the skimmer at this point.

Suction Side Leak -- Black Bottom Skimmer?

That is a good idea. I've tried a plumbers bladder on the pump side to remove a blockage if there was one, but I didn't think to try it from the skimmer side. I did look into pressure testing or leak detection but it was pretty expensive.

Suction Side Leak -- Black Bottom Skimmer?

I'll check it out. I think I already did but couldn't hurt to try again. No experience with Black Bottom skimmers though huh? I haven't been able to get anyone to verify they are prone to leak since the contractors originally told me.

Suction Side Leak -- Black Bottom Skimmer?

Yeah, I changed the temp sensor to the pressure side since the picture. I have tried relubricating a few times and checked impeller -- no blockage. Would copper to pvc be an issue? Or just a potential leak area?

Suction Side Leak -- Black Bottom Skimmer?

Pool was installed in the 80's, but all of the equipment is new. I had one pool guy say the cause was that the poop plumbing was old pipes, and that the pipes were unable to keep up with the newer, more powerful pump but I'm not sure if that is the cause.

Suction Side Leak -- Black Bottom Skimmer?

I have tried that and had several people investigate the pump, but do not believe it is above ground. I also tried using shaving cream, and have replaced all storm drains and o-rings. I don't have a diverter valve on the suction side. I also replaced the pump filter with the thought it was...

Suction Side Leak -- Black Bottom Skimmer?

Hi all, I believe I have a suction side leak, I am getting air in the pump and have tried most methods of diagnosis, unsuccessfully. A contractor I reached out to mentioned that I have a "black bottom" skimmer, which is prone to leaking. Does anyone have familiarity on whether this is true...

    Intelliflo Pump Priming Issue

I’m not sure in that. Is there a way to tell by looking at the skimmer?

    Intelliflo Pump Priming Issue

My worry with running a temp line is that I don't have a Jandy valve to isolate main drain vs skimmer. So if it works and the pump primes, all that tells me is that I have a suction side leak somewhere, but it could be anywhere.
