    Calcium tests vinyl pool

Hey folks, I have a taylor 2006 test kit and a vinyl liner. For 4 pool seasons my calcium readings are always well within the recommended ranges. I've never had to once manage the calcium levels in the pool. So I am curious, is it even worth bothering to check calcium levels? I don't mind...

Doh! Jandy Pressure Gauge Adapter cracked

Hey everyone, I'm back for another pool season and it's off to a rocky start! My jandy filter sprung a leak from the Pressure guage. Upon closer examination it appears that the Adapter has cracked over the winter. A quick amazon search turned up a replacement part https://a.co/d/2yU7BuI but it...

Dead Squirrel...General consensus (to slam or not)

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I'll do a half / partial SLAM then :D BTW my PH was around 8.0 before I started adding chlorine. I should have brought it down first. Any harm in adding Muriatic Acid during a SLAM, if you space out the different additions 30 min apart?

Dead Squirrel...General consensus (to slam or not)

My poor wife took the kids for a swim this evening when I was at work. They just got in when the pump automatically shut off and out of the skimmer popped a dead squirrel... It was a very small one and must have made its way into the pool early in the morning. My CYA was 50 and FC is...

    Sand, dirt, or algae?

Do you use polymorphic sand in your interlock joints? Sand always seems to work its way into my pool after heavy rainfall or lots of splashing

    Concrete pad sinking/sunk

Hi @Bperry , thanks for the response. To answer your questions, the pad is on a slope and the soil is clay. The area drains well. I'll check out construction grout. So I believe my steps are as follows (a few questions also ;)) Dig out an area under (right edge) and place a couple of pieces...

    Concrete pad sinking/sunk

Hi everyone, After the long winter it appears the slab has sunk another 1/2" or so. I plan on getting the issue remediated as soon as I can before pool season arrives. Armed with the advice in this thread and a few youtube videos, I plan on using a bottle jack to lift the slab so that it is...

Adjusting PH and Calcium Levels. Wait time?

Hi Everyone, I am going to lower my PH this evening. My Calcium level is around 170ppm, and as per my heating manual it should be 200ppm so I plan on raising that slightly. I've read this Pool School Article and i advises not to adjust PH after adding Calcium Hypochlorite for at least 24...

    Second pipe in skimmer?

Thanks Jim! Makes sense, even though I don't have a main drain. :)

    Second pipe in skimmer?

I am wondering what this second pipe (on the right) in the skimmer is. It doesn't seem to do anything and appears to just trap dirt/sand etc. The pipe on the left goes to the pump, any ideas what purpose the one on the right serves? thanks!

    That looks intimidating. :cautious:

    Concrete pad sinking/sunk

Thanks ajw22 & RLP. If it gets much worse I'll likely redo the slab or explore ways to lift it and back fill. If I live with it for the near future, how hard is it to replumb some of those lines? Are we in pool builder territory or can a student of TFP tackle it themselves? ;)

    Concrete pad sinking/sunk

Hey everyone, Pool is coming up to two years old and I've noticed the concrete pad has sunk toward one end. Some pictures below. Half the nature 2 vessel is off the ground and you can see the slant from left to right on the pad. The return line from the heater has also dropped to pretty much...
