    Waterco vs Astral Pool Filter

I've actually decided to go with a Waterco Sand filter using glass pearl media. From another forum it seemed like Waterco and Astral were fairly on par. Top on my priority list was low maintenance. From what I've read cartridges do require a bit more work every time the cartridges need to be...

    Waterco vs Astral Pool Filter

No, I didn't check the spider gasket. It most likely is the cause of the leak but I have a very old filter + MPV, and so I thought it was time that it was to be replaced. There was the option of replacing the spider gasket or adding a shut-off valve to the waste pipe but my reasoning was if I'm...

Leak caused by either pump or the filter - what do I do now?

I'm planning to replace the whole filter unit. It seems to be just too old and in need of replacement soon anyway. I'm currently researching whether to get an Astral branded filter or a Waterco branded filter: Waterco vs Astral Pool Filter

    Waterco vs Astral Pool Filter

I currently have a DE pool filter that my local pool supplier has been telling me needs replacing. Recently my multiport valve has been leaking water into the waste/drain pipe fairly significantly so I'm looking to replace the filter. The local pool supplier only installs Waterco pool filters...

Leak caused by either pump or the filter - what do I do now?

I just talked to my local pool shop, and he mentioned replacing the spider gasket can be high risk considering my filter is very old. If I start the job and am unable to completely replace the spider gasket, he said it might require replacing the whole filter as a result. Instead, he suggested...

Leak caused by either pump or the filter - what do I do now?

Yes I do have a multiport selection valve. Thanks for that suggestion about the gasket possibly being pinched/defective. I might start by opening up my MPV and replacing the gasket there to see that it fixes the leakage!

Leak caused by either pump or the filter - what do I do now?

I have a pool leak which I think is caused by either the pool pump or the filter. Things that indicate this: I've done a bucket test a few times and the water level varies quite a lot after a day. With the pool pump running, there is about a 1.5 to 2cm difference in water levels. When the pump...

Is it ok to put the pump, filter and chlorinator in the subfloor/crawl space?

Here are some photos of the area. The mortar erosion is most significant around this area of the house where the pool equipment is located, so my immediate thought was it's due to the pool equipment being there. I guess with enough time and money we can relocate it, but I was wondering if it...

Is it ok to put the pump, filter and chlorinator in the subfloor/crawl space?

The property is about 70 years old. There's fairly significant mortar erosion with the bricks near the pool equipment which was moved there, I believe a few years ago, but elsewhere the mortar looks strong and intact. The land slopes, and the entrance to the crawl space where the pool is, is...

Is it ok to put the pump, filter and chlorinator in the subfloor/crawl space?

The previous owners relocated the pump, filter and chlorinator in the subfloor/crawl space. The brick wall near the pool pump is losing its mortar. I'm wondering whether the liquid chlorine and the presence of all the pool equipment is affecting it. The other issue is the potential dampness and...

Help with a liquid chlorine feeder

Thanks everyone. I ended up replacing the squeeze tube inside the rola-chem/chlorine feeder. This seemed to have fixed it!

Help with a liquid chlorine feeder

Hello, I have a liquid chlorine feeder the previous owner installed before I moved in (moved in 3 months ago). The feeder turns on and the dial rotates, but I'm not sure that it's working properly. The inlet tube that sucks the liquid chlorine from the barrel has air bubbles in it while the...

Is this considered primed for a variable speed pump?

I managed to fix it by setting the filter to recirculate. This seemed to allow the pump to prime all the way, and when I switched the filter setting from "recirculate" to "filter" the pump remained primed. I have 2 questions: Why did recirculating fix the issue? Was there not enough pressure...

Is this considered primed for a variable speed pump?

Thanks. When I put it back together, do I need anything to ensure there are no leaks like a silicon lubricant?

Is this considered primed for a variable speed pump?

My pool pump isn't priming properly right now. I have another thread on that, but I wanted to ask whether I can just unscrew the section I've highlighted in red with pliers and then screw them back on with pliers to take my pump out to a repair shop. Or do I need some kind of seal tape when I...

Is this considered primed for a variable speed pump?

One thing that makes me doubt it's the O ring is that my pump fills up with water when I open it up cause my pump is below the water level of the pool. This happens every time I turn off the valves to the pump, and then open up the pump water. When I do that the pump fills up with water and it...

Is this considered primed for a variable speed pump?

It has been completely full before to the point where there was no air bubbles. I have tried checking for leaks in the pipe but there weren't any visible leaks I could detect. I haven't cleaned and lubricated the o-ring. It's embedded quite deep into the lid so I didn't want to damage it trying...
