    Thought I had it beat…

Thanks. Rounding up is a good idea. I got 43 just cause their is a 40 and a 50 line on the tube, nothing in between. Looked to be about that.

Yes, from my Taylor kit. I’ll give it another whirl. Thanks

Pictures aren’t great. Just small green streaks on bottom and my current numbers.

    Thought I had it beat…

So I posted on here last week about a sudden appearance of what I assume is algae, and cloudy water. After using the SLAM method for what took about 4 days, my pool was spotless, drop of less than 1ppm overnight. I had been scrubbing, vacuuming, cleaning filter and maintaining chlorine levels...

    Sudden algae bloom?

My Taylor CYA test tube only goes as low as 30, so honestly I’m estimating around 20-25?

    Sudden algae bloom?

Ok. We have to add water pretty frequently between the kids splashing and sun exposure, thinks that could be what’s causing a hard time keeping CYA up?

    Sudden algae bloom?

Ok. Kind of what I was thinking. Think I shoot for around FC of 4, I’ve been trying to keep it around 3, but it definitely drops pretty quick between the amount of use and the amount of direct sunlight it gets. Pool is about 84 degrees and it’s been hot. Thanks

    Sudden algae bloom?

Hello all. So I’ve had my pool a few years now, and have had a good test kit, and pools always been spotless. It’s a 21’ above ground, chlorinated with bleach, with a heater. For some reason this summer I’ve been having a hard time keeping the cya up, and have already added stabilizer once...

Pool care while away from home

Hi guys. I appreciate the feed back I received from an earlier post. As I said in a previous post I’m often gone for a day or two at a time due to work. How do you guys maintain the pool using the TFPC method when away from home, such as vaca or work? Is a SWG the only way, if I want to get...

So with a CYA of 60, chart says 7-9 for FC. Thats a safe number to swim in everyday? Or would I be better off lowering my CYA? Also with the chlorinator, think I’d be able to keep it on the lowest setting, to limit CYA build up, and compensate for lower FC if need be with liquid chlorine...

Thanks again for the replies. Ok, got the kit today, did most tests a couple times just to make sure I was pretty accurate, make the the dot was totally gone, color blue not still purple, etc. Here’s what I got… FC-3.6 CC-1 CYA-56 PH-7.4 TA-110 CH-340

Apparently it’s not an actual line on the vinyl, cause the wife said when kids were in the pool it went away, but she said not foamy. I don’t know, pollen? That seems like it ended a while back though, and that was yellow in color, cause it was all over the plants and grass.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. I bought the K-2006c, but have not received it yet. My wife is home everyday, so I guess it just depends how complicated the daily test is, not sure I want to burden her with it when she’s the one home dealing with the kids everyday, but she wouldn’t mind if it...

Hello all. I’m new to the forum, lots of great info here. I’ve had a 21’ above ground pool for the last two summers. So far no issues, water has been clean and used daily. We currently have an inline chlorinator, which other than flying through the v-pack cartridges, we haven’t had any...
