New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

That's the post of the day for me. Got it set to 7 today and I believe it will stay there. Testing in evenings now to have a good idea on daily loss. If it stays constant 7 for next few days I will switch to weekly may be. TA is close to 80 and pH still increases every few days but it is getting...

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

Thank you. Been trying to find that sweet spot by adjusting SWG and I have been constant 6.0 at 45% cell running. I am going to increase a bit more so that I can sit around 7.0. Question should I move my testing to evening to see how much daily loss is?

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

Yes it's summer here plus Brisbane weather further warm. Now that % chlorine I am generating with pool math, that will be on top of what I currently have plus losses right? For example: my current reading this morning was 9.5 and if I set SWG to 38% that would be additional 3PPM on top of 9.5...

Thanks, yes I have reduce it to 58% today and will test again for next few days until I find that spot between 8-9 thanks. Question - can high PH give false chlorine reading?

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

I am not a big fan of checking it daily either, lazy as well. So I will try and find that sweet spot between 8-9PPM and let it settle. I get what you're saying with wiggle room, that makes sense

That's kinda cool, I can even see mine turning sideways. Any suggestions for my adjustments to bring FC down or just leave it on higher side?

I have added signature now I believe, is it okay now mate?

This morning it have jumped even higher, sitting at 9.5. This was after reducing the % to 66 as per pool math. Should I reduce it further or reduce the pump time as it still seems to be climbing?

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

I measured this morning and it was 8PPM which is too much isn't it? I have reduced it for now and would target 6PPM. Would that be enough buffer?
  10. S

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

Thanks mate, I will target 6PPM in that case. Would that be good enough or do you want to target more? I don't want to play too much as it's hard to get SWG to the right level and once I get to that level, I want to leave it alone. Also, at high PPM of chlorine, would it smell chlorine in pool?

Hi, My signature is already updated, is it not visible? My SWG is Kchlor Digital 25, it's an Australian brand and not in the list to select. It's produces 25gms an hour.

Thanks mate, I won't put in liquid chlorine today and will test tomorrow morning before SWG turns on to see what levels are. So, I can stop chlorine today right? Also, as per FC/CYA chart at 70 CYA, minimum should be 3 and target should be 5. So still aim for 6PPM which is more than target is it?

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

Alright, I have done tests this morning and FC this evening as well. Here are the results: FC = 5.0 CC = 0.0 PH = 7.6 TA = 80 CH = 305 CYA = 70 Salt = 4200PPM I added chlorine yesterday evening but look at above results, I am assuming that SWG is generating enough chlorine? I set it to 75%...

Thanks mate, so this will eventually clear out on it's own?

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

Thank you, I will make sure I monitor is for next couple of days. I have started noticing that since yesterday, after adding salt my skimmer sock was dark yellowish to light green in colour when dirty and clear off with water. Is that dirt/dust or something I should be worried about:oops: See...

Thanks mate, I will let it run at that % just to boost at startup and then I will adjust the percentage tomorrow to 50-60%

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

Okay, I did my tests this morning and have turned my SWG on. The salt reading was 4200PPM and I have set the chlorine output on cell to 85%. Would that mean it would produce approx 3600ppm chlorine at 85%? Also, how does SWG run time affect chlorine output say if the cell is run for 8 hours?

Hi mate, It's an Australian brand, the SDS says: Chemical Profile Purity of Sodium Chloride...................Min. 99.5% Moisture..................................................Max. 0.2% Insoluble Matter...................................Max. 0.3%

It's not from Bunnings mate, it's actually a premium pool salt, but yeah the pool have cleared mostly till evening. Hope it will come up same again tomorrow!

Hi All, I have had encountered another trouble after adding salt. I added 4 20Kg bags of salt this morning and water have turned 50% greenish. It was crystal clear blue before adding salt. I measured salt and it was 600ppm before adding salt. All other parameters were in acceptable range. What...

Also, at what stage should I stop with LC? Once I reach my target say 3500 PPM with SWG cell working, stop LC then?

Will do mate, thanks for reminding! Also how long will it take to dissolve salt on average?

Thank you, your 1st line answered my Q3. Very helpful

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

That helps mate. So when I start the cell, then see how much FC I am having, add more salt if needed and maintain as per FC/CYA chart correct? At that stage I can stop liquid chlorine right? Also, what is a good reference point to calculate salt required for my pool size? Say 3500ppm
  28. S

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

Thanks, so keep adding liquid chlorine to maintain 6ppm as per CYA/FC chart and then add salt as we at same time? Won't that overshoot FC in water?

New Pool Owner - Constantly High PH

Hello All, Not sure if I ask in same thread but I have another question regarding adding salt to pool. My pool will be 4 weeks old soon and I need to add salt, until now I am adding liquid chlorine daily to maintain it. So the questions are: 1. When should I stop adding chlorine, is it a day...
