Crackling noise in my Hayward model S244T multiport valve

I have a crackling type sound (maybe air) coming from the return/discharge port on the multiport valve (SP714). I have cleaned 3 times, replaced the glued in gasket, examined o rings, closed off valves, re-aligned the valve. Etc. it still makes a crackling noise like a pebble is in there. I...

What maintenance would you do with a pool before refilling?

Re: Break it to me gently: How bad is this pool; what to do Your pool looks like a dream compared to the one I just drained. My suggestions based on experience with two non-liner pools: 1. I wouldn't paint. I have one painted and every time I clean, the paint comes up in chips. I hate my...

Suggestions for my concrete pool repair

More problems...... I did a little picking today at the cracks (now holes). As you can see from the pictures, the cracks developed into pretty big holes. I could basically pick around the cracks and it just kept coming apart. It's apparent that water has settled behind the pool wall and...

Suggestions for my concrete pool repair

I plan to get to work with a chisel in the next few days. Also, I used this Quikrite stuff (see attached photo) on a different crack and it worked really well. I chiseled open the crack a little and added the Quikrite. It is solid as a rock now and stopped the leaking. I know you guys...

Suggestions for my concrete pool repair

Okay. Here are some photos so far. The first photo is an overall photo of the pool. As far as I can tell, it looks like they laid concrete block and then plaster over the block. I am not sure. The second group of photos are the damage I found after ripping off the fiberglass patch. As you...

    Plaster Repair

I recently used some hydraulic cement on my painted concrete pool. I have a concrete pool that is coated with something and painted. I'm not sure if it's plaster or not. The hydraulic cement is holding so far. However, it is very dark in color. I opened up the crack to let the cement in...

Question about running pump when valves cut off

Thanks. I'll let him know tomor over a cold one. Although it was probably his fault for not checking the valves, he gave the pool man a few choice words when he returned the next day.

Question about running pump when valves cut off

Asking a question for a friend (elderly gentleman and neighbor) who had some recent pool work done. He had a new liner put in by a pool company. They left when the pool was filling with water. According to my friend, they told him to just turn on the pump when the water level got up to skimmer...

Help with getting my wife's hot tub running

That's funny. Would you see about re-building this one or just get a new one? I think a re-build is around $70 to $80 (at least that's what a Hayward re-build cost). I have not done a search yet for a new motor....got any recommendations on where to find motor? jed
