Small Leak from Jandy CL 580 Filter

Thanks all, I removed the the filter over the weekend including the inlet connection from the base section. I replaced the O ring and added a little lube and it seems to have resolved my issue :)

Small Leak from Jandy CL 580 Filter

Hey 1Poolman1, strap wrench is on order along with new O rings. Do you know if this is a simple process ? I've cleaned the filters several times so know how to remove everything, but I've never removed the base.

Small Leak from Jandy CL 580 Filter

Thanks 1poolman1 I will look for a strap wrench today and see if tightening it will resolve the issue.

Small Leak from Jandy CL 580 Filter

Hey All, Today I noticed that I have a small leak from the intake pipe of my Jandy CL580 filter. I've provided an photo of where I can feel water, you can also see on the ground where its dripping from. It appears to be coming out of the joint nearest the filter. Is this something I can...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

I intend to go buy some muriatic acid this weekend in order to lower my TA. In the meantime I'm steadily raising my pH which is currently hovering around 7.4 - 7.6 I'm hoping to get it to 7.8 by the weekend aka more spa time, its a hard life ;) I'm presuming that I should then use the Pool...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

Thanks TexEdmond, I do have a spa at the end of the pool and I admit it's not had as much use lately due to the colder weather. I will run it today for a few hours to see how that helps the pH. There are also a couple of return nozzles that already break the water so I'm good there. As far as...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

Thanks I will order some now. But I'm a little confused on adding this with my ph being only 7.4 Do I need to raise my ph first or should I add the muratic acid until the TA is lower and the raise my ph back to 7.4 ? is there a ph level I should never drop below ? 7.0 ? Is there an easy...

do you recommend muriatic acid or dry acid/PH Reducer ?

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

Thanks mknauss, I will look into lowering the TA. Also, I went ahead and did the phosphate test too, it was high... like 4000ppb high. Is this something to be worried about ?

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

So I did another full weekly test yesterday and all the results were around the same as before, which is pretty good. However this doesn't seem to have resolved the amount of flakes Im seeing in the pool. I was going to clean the SWG cell but I've done this before but it scales up again in...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

I think this is the key. I'm still having to have my SWG at near 60 - 70% to maintain a good Chlorine value. I'm hoping that increasing the CYA I can get this down to 30 - 40%.

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

I thought that the chance of a "miracle fix" was too good to be true :) Also I deleted the app and all its data and re-entered everything and I too now get -0.14 Strange ?!

Have you ever used SCALEFree ? Do you think its worth adding to the pool to help remove the flake build up ?

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

Yeah that's what I thought. I've retested again today. FC = 4 Ph = 7.4 TA = 80 CH = 480 CYA = 30 Again when doing the CYA test I could still see the black dot slightly. Looking at the ideal settings I should be between 60/90. Is this something I need to try to resolve as I'm still seeing...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

I've just done another full weekly test and I got a CYA of less then 30. In fact I filled the tube all the way and I could still see the black dot. I'm guessing this is not good. FC = 4 PH = 7.2 TA = 70 CH = 470 CYA = <30 Does CYA usually vary like this, we've not had any rain and no large...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

So I'm still playing with filter times and SWG% but I believe I have a handle on it and I'm slowly homing in on the right combination :) Part of this process was to also reduce the pump RPM's, however I've noticed that when I get to around 2000 I get a small air bubble in the basket area. Which...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

Thankyou this is all a great help! It does feel great finally get ahold of the Chemistry of the pool. Its like being back at school lol. I do yes, I will enter my results and see what CSI I get. Yes, as seen below. (if this is correct) This is also legacy from the initial PB setup. I'm...

So I've managed to raise my Chlorine from 3 to 5. I did this by leaving the SWG set to 70% but increased the length of time I ran the filter (nearly doubled). I do now have a few question on what I should do next. to keep it at 5 ? I obviously don't want it to stay with these settings as I've...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

Yeah was confused by this test result too as I did the Chlorine Test using the K-2005 kit as described in this video https://youtu.be/OPAAlGxlBYM?t=55 and was reading this as 3 6 on the block. However looking at the block just now I realize that the 6 was for the Br test.. Rookie mistake DOH ...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

Going to take them apart today to give them a good clean :) The pump runs from 10am until 6pm, and the SWG is set to 70%. Should I try pushing this to 80, 90% for a couple of days ? I also have it set to switch polarity every 3 hours to try to help prevent build up on the cell. I will run...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

Thanks for this information I will clean them as you suggest. I am confused by the pH reading though, I have a pH of 7.4 and the app tells me I'm out of range yet the range is 7.2 - 8.0. When I click on the alerts it tells me the ideal range is 7.6 - 7.8. Which surely means I have to raise...

    Tiny white flakes in Pool

The TF100 Salt Kit arrived today and I carried out 3 tests. Each test came back with the same result of 19 drops which according to the paperwork means I have 3800 ppm with my salt which I think is too high. The FAS-DPD kit was delayed and arrives tomorrow. I think I will do all the test again...
