Can the R-871 Titration be bought

Any local pool store that sales Taylor refills should have it. My local pool store has for about $10.

    Need advice on pool pump

The pumps that I am looking at all say they are for 1.5" pipe. My current piping is all 2". Can I just use a reducer or will I need to change out the pipe?

    Need advice on pool pump

Just as I suspected, the pump is completely seized up. I read through that hayward worksheet, and that was a lot of info. I will be replacing the pump and impeller but I need to do this as economically as possible. I did the math on the worksheet and my pool is 19805 gallons I have 2" piping...

    Need advice on pool pump

I read through pool school but did not see an article about pump sizing, just pump basics. How can I tell which pump or motor I need to work with my filter and pool?

    Need advice on pool pump

I think it is time to replace my pool pump this year. It was making a horrible noise at the end of last season and I fully expect it to not spin at all when I fire it up this weekend. I have a 29' round AG pool with 48" walls. I believe it is about 19,000 gallons. I currently have a 1.5hp pump...

    Bad Taste

After doing some searching online, I have found some talk about TDS, or Total Dissolved Solids. Apparently if this is too high it can cause a bad taste. Do you know of a way to test for TDS?

    Bad Taste

FC 3.5 CC 0 Ph 7.8 - 8.5 TA 310 Cal 71 CYA 50 The Ph and TA are much much higher then the last test done about a week ago. These tests were taken about 30min after a rain though, if that makes a difference. A week ago the Ph was 7.5 ans TA was about 220. The bad taste has been there since...

You might want to look into one of these. I have not tried them yet, but it is on my list to buy.

    Bad Taste

What could be causing the water to taste bad? I started this season with an uncovered swamp. But have a crystal clear pool now with good chemical levels. My TA is high at around 200, but everything else is in range. I use bleach for chlorine. The only thing I have down differently this year is...

    Sand filter sand level

How full should the sand filter be? When I looked in mine the other day, it is no more then 3/4 of the way full. I am not sure what size it is, but it measure about 24" tall and 21" wide.

    Pump and filter questions

I have an above ground pool that is about 20,000 gallons. It came with a 1.5hp Astral pump and a sand filter, which I do not know it's size. I run this pump for 2 four hour session each day during the season. This causes a significant rise in the electrical bill. I have been thinking of...

    Fighting with a green pool

No, I did not drain the pool. My cya was around 30 - 40 at the end of last season. But I did leave the pool uncovered all winter, (due to a very hectic work schedule and a bit of procrastination) I am not sure if that attributed to the 0 reading or not. That being said, I am happy to report...

    Fighting with a green pool

Pool is still cloudy this evening, however, I can now see the bottom and it is looking blue. My FC is holding over night, but not at all during the day. After reading 15 FC this morning, I told my wife to add a jug before lunch and another a couple of hours later. When I arrived home from work...

    Fighting with a green pool

9pm test results: FC 20 CC .5 pH 7.2 Alk 260 Cal 90 Cya 50 I had to add quite a bit of chlorine today. I checked the levels every 30 min to an hour and used about 7 gallons of bleach, but it has been steady since the sun went down. Will check again before work in the morning.

    Fighting with a green pool

Thanks, I am at the turquoise color this today. It is getting better. I have been using BBB for 3 years now, and have been very happy with it, just got a little impatient with the green muck, which was my fault, btw. Is there anything I need to do in regards to putting that sodium bromide in...

    Fighting with a green pool

My latest test results just taken are as follows. FC 15 CC .5 pH 7.5 Alk 300 Cal 90 Cya 30 Temp 76 I have been fighting this since last weekend. I have trying to keep the FC at 15 or above and i have removed as much of the leaves and acorns from the pool that I can. But I just can't seem to...
