West Edge Primera Stone Color - Anyone ever used Lazurite? What colors do people like?

I should mention it's going to be a SWG pool. For some reason the builders in North Dallas discourage saltwater but from what everyone on here says it seems like the way to go.

West Edge Primera Stone Color - Anyone ever used Lazurite? What colors do people like?

We've decided to use Wet Edge Primera Stone for our pool renovation. I like the look of the Lazurite online but I'm worried it looks too artificial: Wet Edge | Products | Lazurite Also, there is literally zero evidence of this product existing anywhere online other than the Wet Edge...

    Skirting the 3:1 slope requirement

We are remodeling our 1960's era pool. Right now there's a shallow end that starts at 3.5', goes to 4' and then slopes down to 8.5'. The shallow end is a little crowded - we and all our friends have 4-7 year olds - and so we originally intended on extending the shallow end and bring up the deep...

Adding a tanning ledge in the deep end: is this a thing?

What is a cocktail cove??? That sounds like something we would definitely be interested in!! Please tell me more. I hear you all on not wanting to lose the deep end. The trouble is that the pool is shaped vaguely kidneyish with the three stairs down in a little offshoot area and then a...

Adding a tanning ledge in the deep end: is this a thing?

We bought a new house in May of last year and moved from a sport pool we loved - rectangular and four feet deep on the sides and five feet deep in the middle - to a giant kidneyish shaped 70’s diving pool with a very small shallow end and a huge drop off to a large 8 foot deep end. We’re...

Spa draining - so is the wallet.

I am in Dallas as well and *also* have a mysterious undiagnosable leak that I have spent thousands of dollars trying to nail down. I actually had my entire pool replastered which I think helped, but I still have tons of bubbles in my return and my pump never maintains full pressure - it fills up...

Pier Pressure: How to Stabilize A Heavily Cracked East Dallas Pool

Ok, but isn't it true that you can't put a liner over stairs? And I'd have to replace all the skimmers, inlets, drains, etc.? Am I working off old tapes? If vinyl liners solve the cracking problem (and apparently resist algae better) why isn't everyone on the vinyl pool bandwagon?

Pier Pressure: How to Stabilize A Heavily Cracked East Dallas Pool

I hadn't thought of that. Seems like putting a vinyl liner in a concrete pool has plusses and minuses but it definitely is something I should look into. What about putting in a fiberglass liner? That seems like it might be a better solution?

Pier Pressure: How to Stabilize A Heavily Cracked East Dallas Pool

Hello- I bought our house, complete with a gunite pool, five years ago and I have always had problems with the pool which I knew were caused by leaks somewhere in the system. In the last year, though, when the weather was warm (which was a lot of the time) the autofill ran constantly and our...

Green Swamp with Dreams of Sparkling Oasis - help!

OK, so I'm losing about an inch of water a day in sunny Dallas, Texas. This may be a leak and it may be evaporation. I do have bubbles in one of my returns and in the pump basket so I'm thinking there's a crack in a skimmer throat. Regardless, I let my pool go to seed while I fooled around...

    I'm having some problems...

...which may or may not be related. They are as follows: 1. My pool appears to be losing about two inches of water a day. Admittedly, its gets 15 hours of 110 degree sun in Dallas, Texas so perhaps it's due to evaporation, but it seems like a lot. It never used to lose this much in the...

    What happened to my CYA?

I have a similar problem - My CYA was at 50 and then I didn't test CYA for a few months and now I clearly am at zero. So I put 4 pounds in a tube sock and put it in the skimmer and will leave the system running 24 hours as directed. But how long do I leave the sock in? Do I take it out after 24...

BBB for months - sudden CYA drop

So looking around, it seems like shock chlorination can degrade CYA and since i have an autofill and haven't tested in a while (2-3 weeks?) maybe its just been diluted by evaporation and refilling? so to get it back up should i just add stabilizer and get it back to 70?

BBB for months - sudden CYA drop

Re: BBB for months - sudden CYA spike OK, yes, good point. So scratch that last bit and replace with: "can still see the black circle when the tube's full to the top - practically 0 PPM of CYA! What happened? How did the CYA plummet so much?"

BBB for months - sudden CYA drop

Hello. I've been on the BBB train for a few months now. I bought the FAS-DPD test and have been keeping the pool at around 7 FC since my CA was around 60 since i previously used the chlorine pucks. The CA has been at 60 for months. My pool's been looking great but the attached hot tub that...

Starting BBB Method - My Initial FAS-DPD Test Results

It's pretty clear. The FC is down to 18 ppm now and the CC is definitely less than .5 according to my test kit. So now I just wait for the FC to go back down to 2-4ppm and I maintain that level, correct? It seems like a lot of the algae has become white dust, as was mentioned in the Sparkly...

Starting BBB Method - My Initial FAS-DPD Test Results

OK, so after putting in 180 oz of bleach and running the pump all day, my FC is now at 25.5. At some point it will go down to swimmable levels, right? Just to be sure here, when you're using the FAS-DPD test for FC and you put in the two scoops of the white powder, you put in two scoops no...

Starting BBB Method - My Initial FAS-DPD Test Results

OK - So I have a 14,500 gallon pool and my current FC is 18 so according to the Pool Calculator I need to add 180 oz of 6% bleach to get the FC to 24 which is the shock value for a CYA level of 60 according to the chlorine/CYA chart. Do I have all that right? First I will skim out all the...

Starting BBB Method - My Initial FAS-DPD Test Results

I recently purchased a house with a gunite pool and had been struggling with algae. At the suggestion of everyone on these boards, I went out and got the Leslie's FAS-DPD test kit. My first results are as follows: FC - 18 ppm CC - .2 ppm pH - 7.3 TA - 95 ppm CYA - 55 ppm CH - 280 ppm I have a...

Still green algae - chlorine off the charts - algaecide?

Thanks guys, this is great advice. I will get the kit and follow the shocking steps. It sounds like everyone agrees liquid bleach is the way to go. I have the puck feeder, can I keep using that generally and use liquid bleach for shocking as per the pool school instructions? Or will the...

Still green algae - chlorine off the charts - algaecide?

I have the Basic 5 Test Kit. http://www.bjs.com/store/robelle-poolma ... 22260.html I suppose I should invest in the FAS-DPD test. I see on the CYA chart that I want the FC at 16 for shock. The pool calculator tells me that's 2.9 lbs (47 oz) of Cal Hypo so I can add another pound of the Power...

Still green algae - chlorine off the charts - algaecide?

Hello. I am new to these boards as I have just purchased a house with a pool but I have been reading through Pool School and trying to get on top of things. I have a 20,000 gallon in-ground pool/spa with a main drain and two skimmers and then a fountain return in the spa and a couple of return...
