I used 2 wraps of tape for the redo. I think I can see the leak source. If you look back at the leak photo a few posts up, look at the 11:30 position. There's a tiny crack there about 1/8 inch long. I don't think sealing the threads with silicone sealant would seal that too. At any rate, it...

So, I just couldn't leave well enough alone. I removed the drain plug, cleaned and lubed the o ring, applied teftlon tape to the threads and reinstalled. The leak is now worse than it was before. I'm thinking replacement of the drain plug is in order? Or, what about a permanent fix like...

If I do decide to mess with it, can I use the "Closed" setting on the multiport valve to hold the water/DE in the filter? If redoing the plug means loosing my fresh load of DE, I'm definitely waiting.

Well isn't that interesting... I just did a "reverse salt calculation" and came up with approx 28,000 gallons for my pool. I added 800lbs and I'm at 3400ppm, which implies approximately 28,000. What's strange is that prior to the liner replacement, I'd been using 33,000 in all the PoolMath...

Yeah, no leaks at startup... But 1.5 hours in, there's a minor leak at the ONE PART I didn't replace or reseal... The multiport drain plug. It's VERY minor and might seal on it's own. We'll see. I have another thread about it in the Equipment forums.

Ya know, go figure the ONE PART I didn't replace and reseal has a leak! I guess there's some logic to that right? If everything else is sealed so we'll, the water would find the weakest link? Correct thinking, or am I off?

Update... 1.5 hours after startup, there is a minor leak coming from the multiport drain plug. I feel like such an idiot, as I hadn't even noticed such a drain plug prior to the project. The leak is very minor and I'm thinking it will seal itself after the system is running for a while...

Yeah, that's what they replaced the old ones with! I like the clean look of them. But we used to use the middle screw to judge water level. Have to get used to a new metric now... In the middle! [emoji23]
