Is it ok to reduce return flow (fixes loud pump sounds)?

Thanks very much James for your reply. Not the answer that I was hoping for, but I’m going to send a message to the place that sold us this pump to see if they will do an exchange. Thanks!

Is it ok to reduce return flow (fixes loud pump sounds)?

Update: I took the pump apart and there was a part of the impeller seal that had moved an inch or so down onto the silver bar that spins (unsure of name), I moved it back into place against the impeller and put everything back together. No more leaking from the pump. however, there is no change...

Is it ok to reduce return flow (fixes loud pump sounds)?

Thanks everyone. I’ve read a bit about cavitation, and that seems to make sense. Is it possible that our 1hp pump is too powerful for our 1.5” (supplied) piping that came with the pool kit? I had asked about two-speed pumps and they were sold out. 🤦‍♀️ I can’t find any sort of blockage at the...

Is it ok to reduce return flow (fixes loud pump sounds)?

Thank you wireform! I’ll attach some photos and hopefully a short video if I can. this morning I noticed there’s a slow leak coming out of the pump housing. This pump is brand new (2 weeks) - is a leak normal at all?

Is it ok to reduce return flow (fixes loud pump sounds)?

Hi! We have a brand new AGP and Raypak 1.0 HP pump and sand filter. The pump makes a gravelly/marble churning sort of sound even when it appears to be primed with no air bubbles. One way I found that makes that sound go away completely, is to turn the inlet valve at the pool (return line) so...

Can’t find bonding lug on pump - inspector coming today!

Hi everyone, I have a new Raypak RCAGP100 pump. 1 HP My electrician came yesterday and bonded my above ground pool, but he did not attach it to the pump because he couldn’t see a lug on it. Now I’m worried we won’t pass out inspection today. I’ll attach some photos. Any help is so appreciated!

Best pool base in very cold climate with clay soil

Thank you! Do you think (with possible winter ground movement) that the pavers are a good idea, or better to put the track and supports right on the packed limestone?

Best pool base in very cold climate with clay soil

Hello! This is my first post here. I have been reading lots and doing many different searches, and I’m still not sure I know what is best for the base of our above ground pool. It is an 18x52 steel wall pool. The “soil” in my city is clay. If it’s wet, it sticks to everything and stays in huge...
